Tinkering day!

Fixed an annoying rattle in the sun roof, one shaky button for the drivers side door lock and added some rubber so that my exhaust no longer goes "clang!" when I turn the engine off :-)

Also got time to do some sandblasting on a few rust bubbles and touch up paint. When I removed the molding on the rear doors I found some really nasty rust where the bolts are run through the doors. Not good, but nice to get it sorted now :-)

Definitely think I deserve a beer or two tonight!

after 18 months of ownership ive finally repositioned the rear number plate so its now sitting bloody straight, also hoovered all the trout pellets up from the back which were left there from last weeks blanking [fishing ] session,and i backed to black the exterior plastic bits as well :wink:

today repaired my seats after finding this thread

I think the rims are from a Trooper. they're chromed but need a good clean after a week long wild camping and canoeing trip to Loch Fyne last week.

(edit: the rims are from a Landcruiser not a Trooper.)

4x4 tyres.com sell them, think im going to save up and get me some :wink:

Took the sidesteps off ready for cleaning and re-painting

Well after the last laning trip my truck needed a bit of attention :oops:

1st off i fixed the front indicator which after banging off a tree stopped working due to a broken wire so done that.2nd same tree that broke the front indicator also ripped out the rear light cluster so i thought about the right time to do the LWB light conversion followed the how too done by horse 45 in the how too section and simples job done

Then as my car always runs at half temp which i'm told is a touch warm for a 2.8 so the fact the radiator hardly had a cooling fin left in it i thought that would be the culprit so swapped it over for a fully finned rad and guess what ........................ absolutely no differance whatso ever

so that was it for today a nice day of tinkering :drink:

made some centre caps for my rear wheels, cut approx 4" circles out of 2 black bucket lids, put clear silicone on 1 side then placed them in the centre of the wheels, cheaper than buying 2 caps which i wasnt to keen on anyway

hid the rusty hubs a treat :wink:

Did another couple of hundred miles in the DTi today, and decided to go and buy a soldering iron from Maplins on my way home and attempt the dash fix. First attempt killed everything

, second attempt and it all works as it should, except for the fuel gauge. I am guessing the fault with that lies elsewhere, just gotta work out where.

Rocker gasket has also obviously been leaking for a while and the gearbox and rear of the engine was nice and lubricated with engine oil. So a quick application of gunk and a damn good pressure washing and its looking clean again. Just need to grab a rocker gasket at the weekend.

nah defo not 15mpg from a diesel maybe from a v6 , my fuel gauge can take a day to settle & register properly, search the site for fuel gauge faults cos im sure ive read you can clean contacts etc :wink:
