it did have 235/75/15 on it and they looked weedy i think the measured up at 29 inch diameter

as i had the pepper pots with 255/75/15 (31inch diameter) tyres on i stuck them on
they clear the wheel arch's OK but slightly rub on full lock on the step front side support bar i will undo the support bracket & give it a clout with a big sledge hammer to bend/push back a touch :drink:

i reckon the fronty pepper pot brought the tyre out about 4 to 5 inch's thats why i fitted the arch extensions
Ive just got to put 2 strips of ally checker plate on the 2 rear doors to finish it off then give the rear & the roof a go with T' cut and then a good going with mer polish
then i will fit a set of mudflaps

when the sliver paint on the sides has had a chance to harden it will get a going over with fine wet & dry then a going over with mer polish

I would be inclined to use something like 3m Perfect-it compound between wet flatting and Mer polishing mate...will save much arm ache and will bring the flatted and dulled new paint back much easier than going straight to waxing.. :wink:

My Trooper had 205/80 R16's on. Looked like it was on pram wheels. Currently using 255/65 R16's which are a bit meatier though getting close to rubbing. Was going to get some spacers, but looking at the offset of those pepperpots I think I will just get some new wheels and keep the old ones as spares.

today i fixed my leaking back diff. power washed the underside of the truck so i can it it painted. fitted a new prop shaft coupling. and spent 200 quid on 2 new tyres [insa turbo saharas 31/10.50] bloomin mot lol :roll:

not today, but over the weekend;

- extended bracket for rear brake line T fitting to ensure rear flexible isnt stretched

- made and fitted lower spring retaining brackets

- cut down the shock gaitors so they only cover loosely at normal running - full of Bala mud!! deffo recomend to anyone off roading to do this....

- modified the anti- roll bar ends for temporary quick release to see the difference, rear seems worthwhile but havent seen much benefit from front

now just need to plan the time to do the front end rebuild :shock:

I finished wiring up the roof lights wired it under the roof lining and fitted the two switches next to the interior light i ran the earth through the interior light earth i ran the live under the bonnet an up the inner door seal an through a wee cut out on the pillar up the inside of the plastic moulding along the inside of the roof lining to the switch. i took a live from the switch to the lights along the roof lining to the top corner of the door frame through a wee cut out then along the outer seal to the roof light bar. I earthed the earth of the spots to the mounting bolts using eye/loop connectors. The switches light up when the lights are on.
i also fitted new washer jets a set of chrome ones with amber leds i temporary wired the ive to the fuse an the the other wire to a earth strap they come on with the side lights an look good, i have done this as a temp cause i want to see if the police will give me a dig if they do i can disconnect them then an there. If i have to i will fit a switch.

got some lovely light covers when i was in London

and a second wheel cover

finaly fixed the broken brake pipe, filled the diff, its all go again,

Measured up the chevy with regards to the impending live axle swap...and its gonna all fit nicely using patrol leafs and axle up front (SOA of course!) and the rear is looking good too using patrol rear and soa on the chevy springs...
Measured for extra rear crossmember carrying 2nd transfer case (nissan again) and with about 15degrees of axle clocking the rear the rear prop should sit nice...
By provisional calculations there should be just about enough clearance for the 38.5x16x15 superswamper boggers....bonnet height should be about chin height (and I am 6'1"

)

Its gonna be a monster, might even be the biggest fronty out there (its gonna get a fronty facelift with grill and lights when I paint it as the isuzu stuff is battered!)...and will actually work offroad unlike most of them prettied up Hilux's!

Might need to extract some more GeeGee's from the 2.8 though...thinking of fronty intercooler set up and turbo if it will fit..

Ifitted new clutch slave cylinder but still think it needs a proper bleed, changes gear great but think the bite is still too high

Fitted a set of metal tyre valves as the rubber ones keep leaking. Hopefully that will cure the flat tyre every two days.

Well, my new spotties turned up today, so I've been out swapping things over on the roofrack...
I now have 4 of these beauties mounted up there, eBay clicky, as I've always preferred those style of lights to round ones.

Now just got to whip the rooflining out, and sort out the cabling... I must be feeling a bit dense this morning, as I'm looking at em (only one wire coming out) and going "budumbudumbudum" etc, hehe :oops:

i took some picture of how i did mine to help other who may choose to do it not saying my way is best of full proof as i only done it yesterday

As you can see the wire from the lights sit`s nice behind the outer door seal out of site except when the door is open but that not a big issue to me

If i lift the seal to show you you can see its route

from above there is no wire showing

i then ran it through the inner seal on the door frame through a cut out in the metal that is already there

this hides the wire nicely an stops it fouling on the door. inside it looks neat as it run along the head cloth

for the live its the same i ran it along the inner wing to where the bonnet wing an pillar meet i ran it under the outer seal to a wee notch cut out on the pillar frame that allowed it to pass under the inner seal

i then ran the live wire to the switch along the plastic moulding to the roof an between the roof cloth an roof to the switch. when you close the door its all nice an neat inside an outside.

Finally managed to figure out why the caravan kept losing its right indicator. After spending ages puling all the panels apart and finding a forest of scotch locks everywher, then properly soldering them together, it still didn't work properly. Then took a look at the truck itself and found yet another scotch lock splicing the right indicator wire that was shorting out. Pulled all the bleeding things off and again soldered the lot. Everything flashes and buzzes as it should ... winner!

Think I must of removed about 25-30 scotch locks in total now

God I hate those things :evil:
