Crankshaft Sensor

1. When you turn the key to position 3 ( crank ) is the MIL flashing?
- If yes, remove key, re-insert key turn to position 2, wait 2 seconds then turn to position 3 to crank..

Does the engine start..
Yes: give the car a second or 2 to read the chip in the key. Maybe a weak car battery?

No: does the MIL flash now?
Yes: This will be immobilizer
No: It's not immobilizer

As you said, no fuel coming from the tank. There is a valve on the fuel rail remove the cap put a rag over the top and gently press the pin to see if there is fuel pressure, fuel should spray out.

If your fuel filter is dry after cleaning then as above check your Pump Relay, when you insert your key and turn to position 2 ( On ) do you hear the fuel pump start clicking/pumping - this will only come on for 1-2 seconds just to pressure the fuel lines then it will switch off.

I would start looking at relay/connections as above and possible fuel pump if you cant hear it start up with the key..

Relay seems ok.

Any suggestions on bypassing the immobiliser?

When you turn on the ignition listen carefully for the fuel pump. It runs for a short period to raise pressure and then stops. You can hear it from inside the car,or get someone to listen outside the car near the tank underneath the car. Do not turn the engine over......just turn the ignition on. If you can't hear the pump then there's no voltage getting to it or its bust. Some people have had the power lead to the pump corrode and break off. If the immobiliser lamp flashes whilst cranking the engine then that usually indicates an immobiliser fault. It is possible to run a separate live feed to the pump to check its working. Be careful...fuel and sparks don't mix!. So you should hear the pump as you turn the ignition on for a couple of seconds max and then it stops. Turning the ignition off and on again repeats the cycle.....if you can't hear it you've found your problem, then you just need to find what's causing it

This is my first posting - on behalf of a friend to whom I sold my 3.2L Frontera.
Like another member here he recently found the Frontera would crank, but not fire. His mechanic friend said it could be the crankshaft sensor, whereupon we ordered one on EBay which, it transpired, came from China. It's now been fitted - but the vehicle still will not fire. Any suggestions?

Is the eml on codes been read? There have been many reports about using ebay crank shaft sensors. Bosch all the way this is recommend in every post about them on here.
