Re: Local Tip Vs Fog Stickers!I did make the point about numberplates and dealer stickers that are in back windows and he wouldnt budge...insinuating that now I was getting silly.
I am more disappointed with the council TBH...I can kinda understand the fella was following the rules about "sign writing" and can see it would be hard for him to not allow someone to tip who had a car with ww.I.am.a.plumber.com or something written on the sides of a car, whilst there might be a car graphic'ed like sally's that was allowed to unload...that being said common sense would say he could just tell the plumber that she had a permit. However the guy at the council could easily have looked quickly at the FOG website and seen it is an owners group, not a business or anything, and exercised a bit of savvy and instructed the tip supervisor that this was OK. I would think they will get loads of complaints as many many people have owners club url's on there cars these days...and this will probably eventually filter down to the tip supervisor as an instruction to exercise some common sense (they might have to send a box of common sense down for him though, with any instruction!) I am going to make an official complaint, and escalate it as far as I need to until I get an answer/apology that I am satisfied with. I could even be feasible to start a little business located outside the tip gates, renting out blank magnetic signs to people who want to use the tip whom cant as there car has an owners club url on it. PLUS POINT though....Chav-tastic-saxo-man with his shopping list (wish list?) on the door will be penalised too...not that I guess they go to the tip much in their chaved up saxo's seeing most have a sub box the size of a mondeo in the boot. Re: Local Tip Vs Fog Stickers!Guy in my local tip is ok.
I used my auld Fourtrak Fieldman for the tip when I had it, He came over to me and basicaly said its a van, once I explained basicaly it was used for private use and off roading only he was actualy ok about it. Guy worked in the tip for years though so I think he knows the score, He said the probmel realy started with guys doing garden and house clearances and charging punters obviously for the service, some of these guys were coming in 2 and 3 times a week filling skips and the genuine people werent getting to tip their rubbish cause skips were getting filled too quickly. But the guy at your tip was just being a total kn*b. no doubt about that, You only have to look at most vehicles to make that judgment if its commersial or not, We all make decisions in our jobs day in day out. usualy the right one I hope Personaly I think the guy is a kn*b, single no mates and hasnt a clue on life. That should be a post in the future. KN*BS WE HAVE CAME ACROSS TODAY........................
Re: Local Tip Vs Fog Stickers!Just come back from the tip. They didn't even look my way

Re: Local Tip Vs Fog Stickers!I think the guy at Gregs local tip was fed up with Greg going to the tip with his truck and taking a load of stuff away, so the guy at the tip had nothing to sell

Re: Local Tip Vs Fog Stickers! He should have done Ste...his job aint that bad though, he just walks round with a clipboard, gets on everyones t1ts and watches the others work!
Result though, everyones complaining has bought about a backtrack by KCC as fudge pointed out up the thread a bit... Now the "signwritten" 4x4's can go and dump the rubbish in the tip again. Am commencing my next battle now with them, as I want to be able to take my vw caddy pickup in the tip instead of the 4x4's...It aint tipping trade waste, although it is deemed as a commercial vehicle. They are refusing to grant a permit for it at the moment as I have normal cars (ie fronteras) available at out home address that I can use...my arguement is that I should be able to choose which vehicle that I use...The caddy is easier to get stuff in and out of, and does 55mpg unlike the trucks, so it makes both economic and environmental sense to use that instead if I want to get rid of stuff from home. Explained to them that my truck is kinda like a monster truck and only fits under the barrier if I remove the roof rack, and is awkward to get stuff in and out of as its so tall, and Sals is always kept squeaky clean inside so I dont really want to fill it with garden rubbish. They are not budging at the mo, but I will keep working on them...I might have to register a change of address on our 2 fronty's to the workshop, so that then my caddys pickup and van are the only taxed "available" vehicles registered at the home address..that would work, but I cant be assed if I am honest, and would sooner they saw sense, as the load carrying volume of my caddy pickup is less than the 2.8lwb anyway. Re: Local Tip Vs Fog Stickers!Could you not tell them your Frontera`s arnt covered by your insurance to carry garden and house hold rubbish to the tip.
That way they are encouraging you to drive ileagally telling you to use your Frontera`s when they arnt covered.
Re: Local Tip Vs Fog Stickers!I get this hassle all the time. I now go in my van just to pi$$ them off. The last time i told him, he can either let me tip it, or pick it up from the front gates the next day, either way i dont really give a Fook. I love to watch the grumpy 8astrd now as soon as i drive in the gates. I also went to one in Ayrshire( it sounded similar to one greg had the issue with) The barriers kept me out. I parked at the gates, then opened the back doors, to be told you cant walk in......i replied,oh yes i can watch this, if you have a problem phone the police. If you try to complain, it gets you No where. Now if i call my local council & get asked what department i would like, i usually reply with "The department for common sense would be nice"

Re: Local Tip Vs Fog Stickers!Hi Greg,
what a 'German' behaviour of this clipboard guy... At our local tip I had the problem using my company's car. It had no signs on it, but they realized by the car's reg that it came from a place 360 kms away. However, they accepted my point to pay tax for private use and gave me a DIY sign I had to place behind the windscreen during next visits... Kind regards,
Ian Sorry for my pigeonenglish. ![]() My doctor says I have to invest time in SPORT
Re: Local Tip Vs Fog Stickers!A few years ago i had a similar problem with the tip at North Walsham, Norfolk. The parents had a holiday home on the coast at Walcott, Norfolk. After several years of being flooded the 3 piece suite was at the end of its life, we had a new 3 piece suite at home and as the old one was serviceable we took that down an the trailer when we next went during summer (the trailer was a home made twin axel trailer on Escort van axels).
Me and me brother took the 3 piece suite to said tip while the parents sorted the house out. They wouldnt let us tip as they said it was a commercial trailer, i proceeded to explain that we was on holiday at our property and we had just replaced this tired looking furniture and i wouldnt be travelling 150 miles to tip commercial waste and that none of us worked in the furniture busines or house clearences etc. The guys still stood by thier decision. When we said we would leave it in the middle of the gate they called our bluff and said we wouldnt dare as were young and wouldnt want any trouble from the law or for our parents, the look on their faces when we just rolled it of and went was a picture. Funnily enough we never heard a dicky bird from the council or the police.
Re: Local Tip Vs Fog Stickers!Fairly sure the Mekon works at my local tip....
Can only take the Father-in-laws trailer in as it's bang on the 1.3m limit, otherwise it's permit / commercial licence time.
