Should have known better!!!

Oh ...and maybe a better way of describing the noise is as follows.

Have you ever heard what a washing machine bearing sounds like when it is worn and run dry?
It's similar to that sound.

Loose pads or pad clips rubbing sound like that :wink:

My clips on the pads rubbed after changing, they sounded awful.

And the brakes :lol:

Could it be something as simple as them not lubeing the new bearing, but leaving it dry?

Well...today i changed the brake pad clips, drop links, anti-roll bar bushes and took the cover off the hub to check that the circlip was in place.
Circlip is in place but the noise still continues.

I've worked on all kinds of vehicles in the past but this problem has me stumped at the moment.

I guess next thing i'll have to do is to strip the hub and see for myself whether it's all ok or not.

The original genuine Isuzu bearings have NSK JAPAN C stamped on them, the Blue print after market bearings are the same as the originals with the same stamp, I have both here and just compared them.

I have a used but still usable old outer bearing knocking around.

The front diff does spin in 2wd to an extent, the hubs are fully engaged on a B so the cv's always spin.

Its not difficul to jack the offending side up, remove the cover for the hub and remove the circlip. You can then spin the wheel freely ( you can put the wheel back on if needs) and feel for grinding in the wheel/brakes without the cv's etc spinning.

When they fitted the new bearing did they fit the 2? as there are inners and outers, they also need to have re-fitted new muck covers (I can never get them out in one peice) You can also rock the wheel to feel any looseness in the bearing.

If all that points to the cv and diff I would split and clean the cv's as they would be my first look before the front diff.

Well..i had a good friend of mine Paul (who works for a well known 4x4 Garage in the South West) come round this evening to check the props, diffs, driveshafts, all steering components and have a listen to the noise.
He couldn't find anything wrong and recommends that we spend some time next weekend stripping the hub to make sure the job was done properly.
I'll be taking photos stage by stage just incase anything is amiss.
