Re: Bull bars legal or notThis thread has convinced me, they are coming off tomorrow. They look nice but they aren't of any use. It's near on 2 ton of metal anyways and it don't really need anything more lethal on it, plus it's more weight to drag around.

Re: Bull bars legal or notI think it is safe to say-"If they were fitted when you bought the car,as far as you are aware, they are factory standard!"
Even Insurance companies cannot hold you responsible for a previous owners modifications if you were not given proof that a modification was made. If it came with metal wrap-around bullbars, it should be ok to replace like for like! Rod Noli Illegitimi Carborundum
Re: Bull bars legal or notI asked for members views in general discussion i had made my veiws clear from the start i read all views and made my personal choice It was not a case off hearing what i wanted to hear i was intrested on how members felt sorry if i made it look that way it was not my intention.
When i asked will the bullbars fit before i bought them on here I was told YES THEY WILL was not told think about the risks of fitting them first. I thank all those who put thier views forward positive and negative and even if i did not agree i still took it on board. I know i am not the only one on here that has them fitted or have modified them and it is not the first time the subject has been brought up the penalty of a newbie It has been intresting the response to them in my opinion I hope it will not be held against me 1989 Isuzu Trooper 2.6 (3.1 conversion )

Re: Bull bars legal or notA note to all
By this discussion it has Highlighted some of issue of bullbars that some may not of thought of or considered and may prove useful to any other newbie or current member that has bullbars or is thinking of fitting them. I say it has been a positive post with positive veiws all round. BULLBARS are dangerouse they can do seriouse damage they will wreck a human body on impact. They will add weight to the vechicle and affect the handling and braking distance. By fitting them and hitting a person can have seriouse consequences all round for your self and the victim. It is my choice to fit them other memembers can only advise. I hope other have found the content of this post helpfull and take all point of veiws into consideration . ~Stuart~ 1989 Isuzu Trooper 2.6 (3.1 conversion )

Re: Bull bars legal or notHi guys,
Sorry for being late to the discussion but all this has got me thinking. When I bought my fronty the big wrap around bull bars were a big selling point for me coz I liked the look. Now I'm a bit older and a bit less shallow they're just a big, potentially deadly weight hanging over my front suspension. I'd like to swap them for a soft A frame but I understand they are like rocking horse poo. I currently have 2 spot and two fog lamps on my bars which I can't do without, does anyone have a tidy solution for fitting extra lights to the exisiting bumper and grill? I've got a '95 A series LWB. There seems to be a few companys still making steel bars for the frontera, I'm assuming they conform to the new regs but I resent forking out £300+ for them! All in all a really interesting post, even if it is an old subject. Cheers
Re: Bull bars legal or notHi bud,a really good compromise would be the full width colour coded Irmsher bar, will try to find a piccy later this evening
Re: Bull bars legal or notWell this is my 4th frontera and i have always had bullbars on them
and always will, they saved me and the wife from serious injury when a stupid tractor driver decided to turn right while i was overtaking him i hit the tractor in the side at about 40mph and i reckon if it wasnt for the bullbar things would have been a hell of alot worse, so i say if youve got them flaunt them. Re: Bull bars legal or notYou can fit the bumper from a B series with built in fog lamps on an A series with just a little fettling, Andysd1 did it to his old 2.3 then its easer to fit a B series soft nudge bar that are a bit more common than the A series soft nudge bar.
Just an option. I think Sir Doris has spots bolted into the top of the steel bumper on his. Ste

Re: Bull bars legal or notmaybe we could have a poll on this as it does seem to draw alot of interest
but im keeping the bullbars on mines afterall how i see it is...its other drivers u have to watch on the road n this could be benefical to fronty driver and passengers within the frontera and as for pedestrians i dont drive on footpaths nor do i drive fast in built up areas, and most of all it THEY ARE DAMN COOL LOOKING ON A FRONTERA
Re: Bull bars legal or notNobody is saying dont fit them but what I say is just be sure your CAN legally fit them for your own legality and the sake of not being insured.
Mine is legal to have metal bullbars but I choose not to and replaced them, I dont hold anything against any one having metal bull bars, but the police, ministry of transport and your insurance company may have words if your car is not legal to have them fitted. After all its your call and we can only offer advice as ever Ste

Re: Bull bars legal or notAll really good points. My bars have saved my wings from some half arsed driving round the farm from time to time, "oops there's a wall there..." and so on.
Well I won't be doing anymore mods til spring now so lots of time to mull. Cheers for the suggestions, if anyones got any piccys of front end mods they've done that'd be cool. Just a thought - if i fit a B series bumper would that be classed as a mod my insurance company might be interested in?
Re: Bull bars legal or notTechnically yes they would need to know about the bumper but I cant see it being a big issue with them as its not enhancing performance or altering the main characteristics of the car.

Re: Bull bars legal or noti do a lot off highway recovery for large hgv"s, and i asked traffic about it as u get to know them after a while, and he said he has never done anyone for it.[20 years service ] . but if it was a 4x4, van after 2005 and it was fitted and it was not legal you would be done. but he said he cant remeber any one every being stopped because of a nudge bar, and my 2009 recovery lwb 350,125 transit has a crome a bar ,and he said it was not legal as it was after 2005 but if i had a crash my Insurance may not pay out as they would see it as not being legal............
made me think!!!!! but as i pointed out we use it for pushing cars vans and it looks good lol! and then he said being hit by any car would do damage never mind if a ,a bar hits u first also bare in mind most hgv"s have a bars with lights on the front of them also when i lived in oz just about every car ,4x4 pick up has a huge front a bar even people who live in the city have them ,its a hard one IF A CABLE TIE CANT FIX IT ITS FECKED
