Very happy indeed just want to start her up now but i can't cos i'm still waiting for the 2 tons of sealant we used to cure it's like watchin paint dry but at least andy didn't post ALL the pics :dance:

now just the routine maintenance to do to get her ready for bala

well Started her up at 12:15 and guess what the snorkle aint sealed :wall:

its sucking in air from somewhere just don't know where we went over it checked every joint i have found one broken seal and thats externally leading up the windscreen so will have to sort that when i see andy on sunday if we get chance other than that it looks great just gotta get the barcodes off the elbow sections

The main airbox isn't normaly 100% airtight even after sealing the drain hole, probably where it is sucking air in.

Is it a risk i have to run? i just don't want aqualock on my 1st outing with her i know me and andy worked hard i just don't want to wee all that hard work up the wall, was thinking along the lines of Marine sealing tape (have heard of it somewhere) with more sealant round the joints what do you guys think??

Silicon sealant is your friend. Its underneath so nobodies going to look :wink:

i sealed around the air box, (where you put the air filter)

Do remember you have to be able to change the filter at least each year if you are going off road :wink:

Its unlikely your ever going to go deep enough for the air box to underwater so the normal fixing will suffice to keep water out, if you do go that deep the electrics will die before you suck in any water and you will be in it up to your knees inside the car.

So if your going that deep seal it :wink:

You could get a roll of self amalgameting tape n use that :idea:

love the look, can i ask a Q why can't you just run a pipe from the air box back into the car

Drift has his intake under the bonnet but it's better to have it high up cos if you go in deep water you will aqualock and that can potentially kill your engine

although i am a novice (i'll admit) :lol:

i'll beg to differ there ste since i have done the snorkle modification and changed the intercooler to intake the extra cold air coming in from the snorkle seems to have made my fronty a bit more responsive (i don't mean speed) i mean it responds better on takeoff. cold clean air seems to do it the world of good. :dance:

lol ok ok i know ste you may not notice with yours cos of warm air in the engine bay you probably would notice difference if you had snorkle but all this aside mate really enjoyed yesterday and it was a pleasure to finally meet you and be guided by yourself and THE BOSS :lol:

I notice because the original intake on the wing is restricted and a bit small but now on mine its opened out from about 60mm to 73mm.
