Re: Am I mad?....comments welcome....Re: Donor car?The frontera book of lies covers J to S reg cars. the car was first registered in August 1998 so this makes it an A series doesnt it? Didn't the B seriest start from after that?
Please let me know asap as I am looking at the car today. If it is a late A Surely this is the same car basically? So the doors should fit, wheels, tyres, a bar, seats etc. I can understand that the engine is different and all the components under the bonnet. Could I use the alternator? Why wouldnt the dash fit? different mountings? or electrical reasons? It doesnt really matter a great deal as the leather is grey anyway. At least I can offer what is left to FOG members.
Re: Am I mad?....comments welcome....Re: Donor car? definately an A series?
Re: Donor car?UPDATE: I bought the car, towed it home. Now just sat on drive. Replacing engine on it I have finally decided, but as last owners mechanic has left bits of engine all over the car not sure what damage there is to the engine just what she told me.
Anyone is welcome to come have a look at the engine, tinker with it, make me an offer for it or advise me on how bad the damage is. I really need to get it put back together before I do anything else! If I can get away with replacing the head gasket and pistons then I will. The last owner at least gave me all the parts to fix it. BUT left the engine in bits lol very helpful. Local garage will put a new engine in for £300 but need to find an engine. Ebay is cheapest option but then how do I know it wont just cost more as I don't know the condition of the engine? HMMMM one to ponder for a while I think.
