after fitting my snorkel i was itching to give it a test well along came the rain and our local ford got deep and fast and i was totally unprepaired
the ford was about 20 foot wide and from inside the car it reached the top of the bit between the wipers you no the bit the wipers miss in the middle of the window
i had my lights on and it went awfully dark for a couple of mins what concerned me the most was the ammount of water coming in through the gearstick gaitor it filled the floor pans over a twentyfoot stretch

my driving companion for the test was surfdude who was parked the other side of the ford he said the first wave of water splashed on the roof lights and the rest ( behingd the bow wave was at the windscreen )

result one flooded carpet wet trousers and soiled undies

The snorkel worked fine at Farley yesterday but hitting it at speed tends to kill alternators

good job my missus knows nowt about cars at all so managed to persuade her that it was on its way out and its just a coincidence it went at farley

they are on change over year so have mailed them to check if it for A series 2.2 or B series 2.2dti

Half way up the windscreen on my lwb...leaked like a sieve, just as well really as was getting a bit bouyant on its 33-12.50-15's and was loosing traction and momentum. Electrics suffered a bit but engine was good and no snorkel, just airbox ducted to near bulkhead in engine bay. Trim took days to dry out.
Weirdest water experience was driving the lwb through a river, and not being able to climb the bank the other side. Has to reverse back across as couldnt stop to turn around as too deep. ended up going through a much deeper bit and couldnt see a thing, water pouring over the roof and down the screen from the rear.fortunately knew that nothing was behind me so mashed the loud pedal and got 3ft of air in reverse up the other bank.(snapped rear leaf, bent prop and mild concusion!)

Ummmm, the other day..

Bow wave ran up the front nicely, then as I went deeper it continued until it was right over the bonnet (to the base of the w/screen)... EEEEEEEEEEEEEK! thinks I as I have no snorkel... but no choice by this time as I'm half way through so I keep on going and purr out the other side (with much steam).

Truck still running like a breeze, but I know that some things can be deceiving, let it idle down for a moment while I open the bonnet and take off the top of the air cleaner.. when the turbo timer stops the engine I take out the air filter and it was COMPLETELY SOAKED on one side.. IT (a paper air filter) was the only thing to stop the water filling my pistons!! everything else on the unfiltered side of the air intake was completely soaked!

I had an audience all the way through, and when I came out they said they didn't think I'd make it, hehehe.. I just told them I wanted to wash the wheels and brakes out, hahah. Thankfully I did make it!

Time for a snorkel, and I've already been making some enquiries.
