WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!

Finished replacing the bjs on the truck, also made some shims for the top control arms so the front wheels have the currect camber and nipped up the front bearings. In the morning since my ebay special 40pc tap and die set arrived I'll be cleaning the chassis threads for the drivers side side step and bolt it on with all the bolts, not just 2

Managed to tidy the front up with some new bits/old bits!!! Bar came from E-Bay and the lights i already had from one of my old Frontera's.

well after what seems like months, I have finally completed my body lift!

2 front bolts were a nightmare and 2 of the rear ones. Sorted the front but rears will need 2 new body mounts, they are undone and hanging in the breeze at the moment :evil:

Also 1 of the rear/side mount points has rusted through on body side, so loads more to do!!!

Scrappy visit needed then Pete, get some bits, take them home and weld em up. Cut them apart at the welds (to check penetration) and weld them back up.... Keep going until you can weld!

Alternativly go do a evening welding course at the local tech.

Tweaked the torsion bars to level the front up.

Mot's the lwb and surprise surprise it failed. But not on what I expected :eh:

headlight needs adjusting and a tyre has the smallest of bulges on the sidewall. Even the advisorys list was only 1 page :shock:

So it's booked for tomorrow afternoon for its retest so tonight I'll adjust the headlight and fit my other wheels

More what I did in it than to it, went laning around derbyshire, kick off just east of Ashborne then looped about a fair it then around the back end of Chatsworth and finished up just outside Buxton, had a cracking day out

. A 60 mile route of UCR's and byway with not too much tarmac in between. Oh, to qualify this post, I did clean the windows, mirrors and lights before setting off home, does that count as doing something to it!!

So I couldn't be bothered with freeing up the adjusters so I adjusted the fronteras face to get the currect headlight angle

Is that breaker bar useage covered by Halfords Exchange policy???

I didn't actually get that particular bar from halfords but I'm sure I could get it exchanged if it had of bent lol. Altho I was more concerned about how much the front of the paper bank was flexing. Also has to be said the front of a Frontera is stronger that it looks as I pushed the bank back a couple of inches with the breaker bar lol. In the morning I'll wrap a cable tie around the bottom of the headlight cradle to fix the insecure headlight failure and put my chromies on it ready for the retest. Was one of my most fun fixes for a mot fail so far

New to me tyres on the back of the Mk.II

Reinforced 2 of the lwb's turbo pipes with synthetic string and then self amalgamating tape over the top to finish it. Looks good but sadly made little different

I used copper wire (earth core stripped from a length of 2.5 T&E) wrapped at 10 mm spacing along the hose and then covered with self amalgamating pipe repair tape.
