Finally got round to fitting rear light protectors, courtesy of Fronteramac! Legend!

not a massive job ,,or technical ,,but defo needed doing ,,changed all the leak off pipes on the injectors amazed how porous the old ones where and how brittle ,,job done ,,next job is drop the tank to inspect the fuel sender ,,

not all today

this weeks plan is to change the gearbox is well dead. also finally replace the cracked sump

Prop and exhaust removed on Monday
Gearbox came out Tuesday
Prepped the engine bay ready for removal of engine on Wednesday
Engine removed today and sump replaced. Engine Back in Today

Work continues

Out early this morning to the autoparts place and after a hundred or so quid walked away with new caliper and discs for the rear and other bits.

Got the new disc, caliper and pads on. Not finished though - when I tool the old one off, the rust that came out was hellish..and bits of the drum shoes/adjuster/spring/cable simply fell off so need a new cable and shoes. Would be silly to leave the otherside so that's another job!

Always the way - start something and find other bits on the way that need doing too.

Today I fitted my Isuzu trooper rear springs from Milners and wound the front up 6 turns, the rear seems to have come up about 3.5in and the front needs a little more tweeking as 1 side was always 1/2in lower so just need to level that, but tomorrows job is the upper suspension arm bushes :cry:

Sorted the number plate light and finished welding the sill. Just need to adjust the headlights and send it in for its mot again

well sunny day and a day off work ,,disaster ,,off to the motor factors to buy glow plugs and wipers ,,got home and changed these no problem ,,,then my tiny brain started thinking about investigating the fuel sender /dodgy gauge issues ,,so do i drop the tank or in true ex landy owner fashion cut a big hole in the nice shiny boot floor ,,,,ohhh yesssss you know i did out came the drill and tin snips ,,its not pretty but nothing a bit of sticky lead flashing and duct tape wont sort ,,,,i now have access to the sender unit boooommm ,,,anyhow as i started to take off one of the pick up pipes from the top it felt really loose and corroded so i stopped and thought best leave it alone ,,went to take the good lady shopping and got to the end of my street and yessss stopped dead as if run dry of derv ,,,i know there is fuel in the tank so all i can think off is the pipe in the tank has become detached ,,,so tomorrows job will be to take out the sender and see the damage and try and find a replacement ,,until then im on 2 wheels ,,

Praised my Bighorn and its simplicity as I spent all day dropping the gearbox off the Dead Ford Explorer. My god they made things awkward on them. Took me over an hour to remove the top starter motor bolt. Screws in from the front. Sits between the exhaust manifold and the main block. The engine mount sits in front of it and the front propshaft sits under it. Cannot remove the front propshaft as you have to split the UJ with a torx screwdriver which threatened to round the holes. In the end managed to get a ratchet onto it and endure the "one click" undoing before running out of room to turn it. :evil:

Today I....

Dragged the winch bumper bits out of the shed and down to the truck to begin measuring things up etc. Had a brew... then looked at the bull-bars and bumper on truck that needed to come off to measure stuff up and promptly dragged the bits back to the shed... :roll:

Had another brew... Will think about doing the measure up thing tommorrow... :think:

Later on, having got bored watching the voice, I did that favourite 2.8 owners activity on Truck.... Yes, another engine oil 'n' filter change!

Maybe I should bring my bumper up to yours Frank, seeing as you've got the tape measure out. You can help me figure out what to modify to get it to fit :lol:

Dropped the gearbox off my LWB and loaded it into the trailer along with other bits to drop off at Bobbys so Greg can collect

front shocks have play in the bushes.

the shock themselves are good. can they be rebushed?

You may be able to get new bushes I might have a couple some that i took of one of me old trucks somewhere if you get stuck!

Today i managed to to finish replacing my tow sockets. Think they look nice now. Better than just being cable tied on!!!!

That reminds me - the quick release on my swan neck is knackered.
