This morning, was not good... Coming up to 7am I comes bounding out the house, toast in one hand and a brew in the 'wont spill sh*t cup' in the other... I leaps into the truck ready to meander off to work. and Click... eh wot? tries the key again.... munch (toast) Another click... then more clicks... then Aaagh ohh poo (or summit like it) as the 'wont spill sh*t cup' promptly dumps the lot all over me, me toast and the seat... (grr) then more clicks...
It finally dawns that the battery may be somewhat challenged in the 'has it got volts' dept and the truck could really do with a jump start. Easy enough me thinks, just need something with enough umph in it to get it going. Looking around I spot Young un's little c3 which was sat next to me, I thought that'll do, then considered.. a, it's a bit small and b, it's owner will rip me a new one if I even think about it much less hook it up to the truck! So that idea was out, need summit else...
O-no, mmm perfect but it's right in the corner and the c3 is in the way. Angies volvo? err maybe, but by now she is looking out the window with one of those looks that sort of said step towards that and your life ends... NOW numb nuts... So it's back to O-no...
Sneaks the c3 out the way (very quietly, the owner may be a teenager, but it's a girl and has girl type 'bat strength' hearing)... Finally get the two trucks hooked up and Truck running. Put O-no back, get changed and off I go....
5 miles down the road and the charge needle is doing a good impression of the fuel gauge ie going down... and the lights etc are dimming... summit not right here so not wanting to break down on the way or even worse get there and have to bag a jump start of a 'Defender' it's turn around time and a quick dash back home to swap trucks.
Got O-no, slung the work junk in the back and back on the road.... Only 35 mins late!
Angie picked up a new fan belt for me while I was at work (It was that or I was having the volvo in the morning) and I swapped them on the Truck when I got home. The old one was well shot, it looked okay from the top but was split underneath and so loose that it was not really charging at any more than 12.5v We now have a much improved 13.7 volts so hopefully all is well again.
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered
