WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!

Replaced the stop/tail bulbs on mine...
As I'd lost a brake light on one of the dual-filament ones, took the opportunity to upgrade to LED bulbs rather than a straight replacement. Noticeably brighter, even during the daylight (did a quick comparison of the two after just fitting a LED on one side).

I like, and I'm thinking I might do the indicators the same when they finally go.

Fitted my new to me trooper calipers to the front of the truck. Wow they are silky smooth. Could push the piston back with just my thumbs. New pads in and all bled up in about a hour. Not too bad as that includes getting the tools out and packing away again. Just needs the sills welding, a new cv boot and a new bj somewhere (I'll let the mot man tell me which one) and it should be ready for its annual examination. I wona see how the rolling road takes to the special tracks in the brake test lol

Truck

Finished and fitted the Light Bar c/w 4 x 24W LED lights. Not bad, but already planning the Mk 2 version... :wink:

Truck is now on the road and back to being used as the daily runner.

Went down a few lanes running alongside the Thames and found a few 'puddles' to try out on the way home today, oh and washed the Light Bar at the same time...

It finally stopped raining, so washed the 2.8shorty, washed the jeep, washed the other jeep and then washed the dented jeep...lost interest in washing stuff at this point, so did some work!!! LOL

About time!!!!!!!!!! :lol:

I helped the guy who bought the 2.8 engine remove it ( ok Andy did most of work before hand it was just resting on engine mounts) and load it onto his trailer, as his lordship was at work, the hoist got a bit bedded into the ground where it's been a bit damp lately, so with the help of a scaffold pole and some brute force we got it shifted, I'm sure that my help was invaluable as I provided counter balance to stop it tipping over on the hill outside our house, and most importantly got my hands on the cash before Andy could lol

this morniong i got the prop back from my works machieen shop, cost a box of bickies

they have boored it out to 28.03mm they did ask if the 0.03mm out was ok ... :shock:

so tonight i will put it back together and get a pic..
and weekend i may trial fit the box..

After suffering a week of water dripping from the detachable roof panel into the rear and the accompanying sloshing of water trapped between the laminates of that panel, I used the dry day to empty out about a pint of water held in the panel voids. Once the long spells of dry weather return I will seal around the join to save doing the job again. At least I found where the laminates were separating.

Finally got fed up of the doggy smell, bits of baguette, thick layer of dust on the dash and switchgear, and grit on the mats!
So spent the day with 'Henry' and my Christmas stocking filler dash wipes, and window cleaner

She is now clean and tidy inside, and smells more like a car, and less like a dog!

If it's fine tomorrow, it's down to the jet wash, to make the outside presentable.

Put the 2.8 in for it's somewhat overdue MOT.....Dec 13th....oooer.

1x pass after 2x sidelamp bulbs = win :-)

Last week our black GodZilla failed MOT as expected... For the repair of the crossmember the tank and the rear axle have to come out - Axle is still leaking oil to the right side and tankguard is rusty as well, so collected a spare axle from a mate and prepared a spare tank guard I have kept over a year now and got these to the workshop of those busy greeks at the petrol station...

Had a look at the exhaust to see what part is failing - looks like the trailing edge of the catalytic converter has spllt its plies allowing the gases out. Had my suspicions that was the area of failure as the truck sound like a downpipe failure it was that loud.

at about 6:30 i got a drift going on the duck down a road... got to love black ice

and it was quite surprising drifting with 33" tyres on :shock:

do wonder what the person coming the other way must have throught...

Forklifted a pallet of tiles and bags of grout into the back. With the rear screen up and door open the forklift touches the rear bumper first, which means the mast clears the glass which is really good. I had to cut one side of the pallet down (to 930mm which is the distance between the wheel arches) to fit it in and put a bit of 4"x4"timber in temporarily . I thought the tiles would be quite heavy, and cautiously lowered the forks until the weight was all on the springs. When I looked,my frontera was right down to the rubbers. I pondered it for a minute before deciding to go for it. I took it very easy around some country lanes and stopped outside the cottage. When my wife saw it she read the ticket and told me that the pallet was 675 kilos.
I was quite taken aback and impressed and pleased at how much a frontera can take.
