I finished the mod to the wheel arches then went to gillingham Kent to pick up some bits I won on eBay all of the items in picture for a total price of £9.46 :lol:

plus the toll money of £3.

took it for its test and a clean bill of health tester said god its clean under here for the year you sure its a y reg and the wifes car passed too thank god so its 2 out of 2

Had my stitches out yesterday so I took the truck out for a bit of a run this afternoon. I can drive ok if I take it steady

With much assistance from a certain Hound Dog, I spent my afternoon/evening fiddling with the bumpers on Holly & Sophie, with a view to getting the winchbumper on Sophie.

To be honest, with the aid of plenty of penetrating oil and patience with the toolkits, the bumpers came off without too many issues although as me an Phil discovered later the threads on the bolts removed from Sophie aren't in the best of shape.
Getting the winchbumper fitted to Sophie has beaten us for the moment though, while both are technically identical cars, it's as if something's not quite in line on one of the cars and try as we might the passenger side just doesn't want to go on. Almost as if it needs opening out slightly around the bumper mounts and the tube things on the end of the chassis rails. And before anyone says anything, the little flange on the bumper mounts has been removed with the aid of Mr. Angle Grinder.

Tools downed for the day, I might just remove the thing entirely and run with no front bumper for a couple of days until I figure out how to approach things.

Go down your local DIY superstore and grab yourself a CONECUTTER/STEPPED DRILLBIT then you can open the hole gradually until it gets to the desired size :wink:

They look rude with no bumper Jim....maybe with just a chopped down nerf bar out of an old fronty bullbar...

You have the tube things that nobody can figure out the reason for on the end of the chassis rails, and then the mounts for the body & bumper just outside this.
The winchbumper has locating tubes which go inside the oens on the chassis, then plates which fix to the bumper mounts and bullbar mounts. As it stands things seem to line up just right on the drivers side, but on the passenger side it looks like the locating tube is too close to the plate for the bumper mounts, and it won't slide all the way home.

Autumn's approaching and the first snows have been reported on the Cairngorms (or is it still the end of winter 2011/2012?), so the roof light bar will be going on soon. In preparation the relays have been rewired so just one cable to go and the job'll be done.

It's just frustrating as in theory both the BBB and Sophie are identical trucks. I'll be getting the tape measure out tomorrow to see what's up.

Tape measure???? High lift jack as a spreader and a big hammer Jim is what is needed! :lol:
