picked up a new set of wheels and tyres (shogun) 31.1050.15 bfggoodrich all terrain all for £122

today i did nothing to the car.
but i have got all the bits out for tomorrow
2x upper ball joints
2x lower ball joints
2x front wheel bearing sets
2x manual locking hubs
2x new front brake pads
2x new brake hoses front
1x new winch webbing (replacing the steel rope)
1x redwinch fairlead
1x stainless mesh

so tomorrow will be to fit all of it :roll:

not mine but imgoing to help fudge fit the above very soon - HIDE YOUR PHONES :butt:

might attempt to refitt bumpers and wire towbar or do some welding on the wee trooper

overhauling the turbo today, going to start on replacing the clutch tomorrow and when the gearbox is out going to fix the oil leaking from the gear box into the transfer box. with any luck it will all be back together and running for next Saturday. lol.

today me and fogman attempted to change the balljoints and failed.
we got 2 off then buggered the new balljoint splitter :oh yer:

but luckly it was the 2 bad ones, the other 2 are still in ok condition.

so this morning i changed
2x front wheel bearings
2x manual locking hubs
1 upper balljoint
1 lower ball joint

since the brake pads are ok, i didnt change them.

then this afternoon i went to work on the front winch and put me new webbing rope stuff on it, and the redwinch fairlead

then went to work on fitting the mesh around it. so it now looks like this

so now looking soooo much better :dance:

done bugger all to the fronty today..because the battery is flat...

but, I did get the father in laws Focus through it's MOT with no advisories..did have to get four new tryes and a set of wiper blades for it mind, also while I was at it I gave it an oil change and a fairly harsh blast down the motorway. Turns out that the rear tyres were either the originals or a replacement set for them, cracks all the way down to the cord I could even peel chunks of tread off them..the car is a 51plate! inside of the bead and wheel rim were pristine..suprised that they hadn't been spotted when he was pulled for speeding a couple of months back..oh forgot he's going to be 80 next month, and has more points than me..lol.

there is a good 2.5 engine and box near me do you want me to make enquireis as to cost etc.

or have a word with greg i hear he is splitting his 2.5

Andy did u check the old head gaskets to see if they were actually blown?? that might shed some light on if the block/head(s) are buggered or if somthing went wrong when u put it all back together

Yesterday I did the axle swap on my black dti....wasnt too hard to do...was at it for about 7 hours yesterday in total. today if the rain stops all I have to do it reconnect the drivers side handbrake cable, fit the disks/drums fit calipers and bleed the brakes.....oh and bolt the prop back on....then tighten all the drop link bolts with it sitting on level ground with its wheels on.

Have to say tho...not a easy job to do on your own but not impossible, and helps if you have more than just 2 axle stands because both of mine are stuck under the blue dti atm so I had to use both the bottle jacks out of the trucks for the black dti and the trolly jack to lift and maneuver the axle around. Oh and a tip for any1 else trying to remove springs....dont loose your rag with it and kick them out like I did because one of the compressors pung off and made it VERY hard to get a banana staped coil spring back onto the car.

Easy pring to get out...just undo the shock and drop the axle and the spring more or less drops out

just got back from modified nationals 10 anniversary at the Peterborough show ground took my oldest son for his birthday treat so stayed friday to sunday camping lol

saw nice new alloys for rob

and this morning before leaving i had breakfast alla fronty due to the rain

Got it muddy down the woods at the workday...big offset rims make my 2.8lwb change colour from black to brown in about 2 seconds if the wheels spin! :lol:

Thanks for the offers guys but I don't have the money to get a new engine or to repair this one :thumbdown:

so I'm just going to carry on driving it until it blows up :lol:
