Found the grating noise was the inner bearing knackered AGAIN, this one has lasted about 14 months, previous one was only about 6 months, originals lasted about 10 years.

New ones on order due tomorrow so will fit when I get back home at the weekend, problems about working away from home during the week

trimmed front valance, then did the body lift. just got to sort bumper hight now

New aux tensioner and belt fitted. Old one seized and through the belt off 20miles away from home. Was hard work driving without PAS.

Just looked at pictures of it.

removed my sat nav and fridge and relocated it to a rental transit as got a long run down to horesham in the morning to pick up some over sized test tubes for the bio chemical compnay my daughter works for .. :oh yer:

as going to need some cold refreshment sat in traffic as got to be there to load up for 10am so nice early start :butt:

Spoke to Greg last night ... he found more rust ... nothing major, just on the front panel. Just awkward to get to and time consuming. Unlike the Frontera there is a body panel in front of it that refused to come off, though through a bit of brute force managed to undo the 22 year old screws to remove said body panel. Now patched and clean.

Bless Greg ... I bet he is regretting starting this job ... he is definatly deserving some beers.

Fitted some nice new yellow shinny bits!

Fitted some new Monroe shocks on the front just the rear to sort.
They will get done when funds allow.

Took it for it's annual meeting with the MAN..

result....FAIL

rather annoying list..

1/ front number plate..?
2/ rear number plate..?
3/ offside headlight..too low
4/nearside headlight..too low
5/ (water leak) emission test not done
6/ nearside front steering arm has relative movement in its fixings....

same number plates as last (at least) 3 tests..not broken etc..he's using that rule about postcodes and them numbers for cars registered AFTER 2001
headlights..told him they were wrong, and that they were wrong at the last test..that they fixed (with and invisible screwdriver, as nothing was touched) and PASSED

they are less than two weeks old and brand new (on the phone he said front, so I think he's got confused as both ends have roughly the same areo qualities)

water leak was my fault...forgot to put a clip on, that pipe just behind the alternator..

question...are steering idlers a regular "on the shelf" part? as I need one either tomorrow or sunday to get it MOTed and taxed for next weekend..

Milner sell the idlers I think, who tested it?

GLC, park lane..just behind the aldi/park hotel..

to be far there is movement in the wrong direction on the idler, it's just the other bits that have peed me off..except the water leak.

I did nothing to the truck but my new shocks arrived today whoooopi !!!

Thats springs, bushes, shocks and tyres all ready to fit on the new LWB :thumbup:

The idlers are common you shouldnt have too much of a problem, Milners do next day delivery so you could have it for Tuesday at the latest :wink:

Paint job to the unmounted front shelter - can turned empty and the Mrs called for dinner... What a coincidence!

Looked at the truck and made plans for tomorrow...
Additional lights for the roof rack; got those SCHROTH rallye seatbelts long time ago...

Changed engine oil and filter.
Ghanged gearbox and transfer box oil.
Couple of wiring jobs in the engine compartment.
Topped up screen wash and changed windscreen wipers.
