Would anyone help ( just need your eyes )

Hi guys,

Im after buying a old mk1 Opel Manta to restore and play with but as they are almost gone now would you all do me a favour and please keep your eyes and ears open for me. I hoping to get one that needs loads of work doing, dont care if it hasnt got a engine as im wanting to put a V8 in :thumbup:

So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE will you all keep a look out for me as your out and about :wink:

Only might know where theres a Cavvy sportshatch mk1 down ere...

this is the shape im after ( but thats had loads of mods like arches etc )

They are tasty...but gonna be hard to find through...

Yeah i know mate, ive been on the look out for one for abit now and some one said keep a eye out on farm land etc they maybe one rotting next to a old barn etc then i thought of you guys off roading :dance:

A chap is sitting at some traffic lights and an Opel manta draw up alongside him and stops.The manta driver has his arm out of the open window with a parrot on it.
"Thats amazing "says the other car driver" does he talk?"
"no idea "says the parrot " he hasn't said anything yet"
This was a joke told to me in Germany in about 1986 when I was working and living there.As far as I could gather the opel manta drivers were a the equivalent of ford cortina drivers over here at that time.
I always liked the shape of the old mantas.

There was a red one on the bay a week or two ago, only down the road from me. Don't know if it sold. Did you see it?

Just been thinking....my mate Darren who breaks cars for a living in the unit next to mine, mensioned maybe one of these a while back...it was either one of these or a viva firenza, cant remember which...I remember him saying it was a shed, so loads of welding practise...I will give him a ring 2moz...

It was deffo a mk1. From memory it had had an engine rebuild and decent paint job before being put into storage. Needed fitting out inside, but think it was all there, mostly :lol:

What sort of budget?

Well im wanting one that needs loads of work as its going to made it into my ideal car so we are taking years before its finished and will be pulled apart and rebuild so i want it cheap as poss im not willing to paying eg £800 etc for a shell that im just going to cut 70% of rust away.

Just tried him and its going to a/p...will give a buzz in the morning :wink:

Spoke to my mate (who sent me the picky of it)...
He reckons the fella has still got it and he seems to recall it was 200-300 quid...(its gotta be worth that to break for its rare bits I would think?)

He's gonna dig out his phone number and I will go and have a look for you as its local and get some photos that give a better idea of whats needed...

Dazz said its savable, but is gonna be a proper project...it certainly looks complete and unmolested from the piccy anyway.
Might not be a cost effective one, i.e. how much you would spend over a couple of years doing a resto compared with current price for a good one, but if its a hobby and you are doing it for the fun of it and as a keeper, sooner than to turn a profit on it, then anything is possible and you can make it what you want it too.

Will update when I get some more info from my mate...but its the one you wanted mate :wink:
