How far on a full tank

Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

So my question is, I have a 2.2 Lwb dti, on a 99 plate with 125k. I'm trying to get an idea how many miles I can expect to get from a full tank, 80 litres approx 17 gallon. I'm interested to know from owners with comparable models/ years and not vauxhalls expected mpg

I'm planning a trip, mostly motorway miles and will average around the 60mph,sure plenty of you have done similar trips and would love to know how far you get.

I wouldnt and try and squeeze it out, to get every last mile from a tank though mate...

You run that dti out of juice and you could be looking at a new injector pump for many hundreds of £££'s :wink:

, but have to do 400 miles on Sunday and really wanted to get an idea whether a full tank will get me there. Also ages of vehicles affect mpg and I was trying to get a feel from others what deterioration of mpg they get as the cars get older. If I get 600 I would be happier than a Pig in you know what

My 99 Dti will return upwards of 35mpg on a steady long run.

Not so much muds anymore mate, more like slicks

, but yeah , with the pressures up it will do a good 35mpg on a long steady run (6o mph). Must admit I haven't done a long steady run since the 2 inch lift.

I think my right foot may be a bit heavy in that case :oops:

I get about 450 to the tank, but I do tend to fill up before I get too close to empty just in case

I would imagine a drop since the lift. And stop start absolutely kills the MPG

Well it's about the same as my previous Saab 93 fpt, only when I put my foot down in that I got points as well as low mpg :oops:

You can get good miles to the gallon (or litres) with a DTI. Mine is about 34 mpg on normal local driving - and a bit better on the more motorway type run

As somebody has already mentioned don't let it run dry, as all of a sudden those figures don't look so good

Cheers guys, I have budgeted for a full tank each way (800 mile round trip plus pottering about) so anything better than that we will be happy;)

I will update how we get on anyway for those interested

Let's not kid ourselves, aerodynamic there not,more like a brick on wheels.i've never done a 800 mile trip in mine,although i do average 35mpg back and to to work.on a 400 mile lets say motorway journey the weather plays a big part in the mpg,the biggest factor the wind,side on, head on,your mpg falls like a stone.the motorway its self,which one M6 north of Preston hills not good,M62 over the Pennines not good,M1 south of Leeds not good,etc etc,you get my point,my advice would be look out for a Irish wagon going your way(they cruise around 60mph)and tailgate it,only joking. :lol:

Best thing to do is top up,and keep your eye on the gauge(keep out of the red)and enjoy your trip,do the maths and let us no how you got on.

You could also try postfinders and andysd1 trick :wink:

Drive some of the way and then breakdown :wink:

then call the AA and let the AA use there fuel saving you £££££££ :lol:

i hear andysd1 has asked the aa to put a 4x4 recovery truck into service in his area so he can finish a days offroading for once before being driven home

he must of had the "least petrol using v6" in the country

You have got to remember he has a 2.8 now
