MPG!!!!!

Hi guys,

As I know everyone can appreciate, fuel is flippin expensive!!!!! I just wondered what people have been doing to make the juice last.
I've removed side steps and spare wheel from my 1995 2.2 lwb petrol.

Anyone got any other good ideas in making it last or getting a bit more power?

1) empty the boot of tools and other heavy items

2) drive at 56MPH directly behind a HGV instead of doing 70 with nothing infront of you.
3) only open your windows a inch of 2 instead of all the way down when traverling at high speeds
4) dont put things on the roof

make sure your tyres are inflated right, and the choice of tyres

i use some of the techniques here mainly up the tyre pressures a bit and keep weight in the car to a minimum

im getting around 30mpg out of my 98 2.2

think i will take the roof tent off when im not using it,,,might help a bit,,,, :shock:

gas covert the beast ...........!!!!! works out at low to mid 40s with the gas

yes 2.2 lwb freshly serviced tyre pressures to 35psi. and i have got a spare on the back and steps. driving to maintain momentum helps as does acellerating slowly

you must do a lot of steady driving to get 30mpg gazeddy, im also getting 21 mpg from my t reg 2.2i lwb

but there again im lucky if it will go over 70mph (with a tail wind and going down the north face of everest ) :lol:

Thats gonna kill you consumption mate....you wanna get that 2 tonne of metal moving and keep it moving, stop start is always gonna be expensive I am afraid.

im made up with my consumption. its the op gutted bout it. im probably getting more but as i say i do a lot of stop start

If i drive like miss daisy gear changes at 2k and keep the revs as low as possible and dont go above 70 i can push low 30s out of her.

I have just pushed just over 500 miles to £120 thats roughly 24p per mile tank was almost dry

iv got a 2.8 and i get around 300miles to £70 and i never run it to low as it sucks crap up off the bottom of the tank and being an old car i bet theres a bit of it.

i dont like to is just too close to pay day the bank of hsbc will laugh if i try t use my card :cry:
