thinking of gettin a 1999 lwb 2.2 DTI

hi,
as above so what would i need to look out for guy's and can these puppys be chiped or modded for a few extra bhp .i.e de-cat pipe k&n filter ect ect

oh and i am going up savo to look at one limited edition so fingers crossed

I believe the DTI can be fitted with a tuning box with good results.

next thing is the truck i am looking at is ment to be a limited one .but has no side steps or nudge bar ?? was this just standared on late T reg and up or summat ....

got abs and air con though :dance:

well after a 5 hour round trip the truck was a wast of time had a real bad rattle from engine on tick over (went with light revs but once ticking over was back ) and left it to tick over and the rattle started getting worse and loud almost like the timing chain was slapping about is this a common thing with the 2.2 dti .....i did just walk away as i dont want to be buying a shed that needs tons of money spent on her ....???

thanks bud thats good to no .....this truck had done 103k (well thats what i was told over the phone ) turned out to be 118k no history past 60k ?????

Looks Ok , if a little expensive, but it's the time of year. Mine has no rust and it a '99 T. Wouldn't touch it if it is a Y22 engine rather than an X22. It's obviously been off road or laning, but that isn't a problem, um can't think of much else

just to add my 10 pence.
I have a black LWB B 2.2dti...its a dream, but as with the 1st truck you went to see, mine also rattles when at idle, sounds like the chains but its not. Im 90% (on mine anyways) its my alternator bearings...so sounds like they might be a weak point. mine has over 143k on it and mechanicly hasnt let me down once since ive had it (and tbh...I do give it sh|t). No rust, plently of scratches from green laning and It only oh's me about £1500, maybe £1600 tops.

As boxy said, I'd stay away from the Y22....if the pump goes (and theres no warning as far as I know) it'l cost you about £1200 just for a new pump. its about £300 - 400 for a recon. pump for the X engines and I think I remeber reading that the Y22's cant be chiped either.

PM "meezermum" about geting it chipped, he has his DTI chipped and he loves it.

well i did wi it for 1850 .wich looking around at others for sale didn't think it was to bad a price :oops:

as for the engine how would i tell if it's the x or y engine . and can you decat them (i did this with my l200 and what a difference it made ) oh and a k&n filter ...

any body done this with there fronty dti ??

also do these have on the fly 4wd system (been to used to pickups with it fitted bloody good invention me thinks )

i see they have a push button 4wd (dont like these very much ) much better with a shift leaver for that ....

and last can i fit a double din head unit in this truck ??? if so how is it done
