clutch party volunteers wanted ;-)

Well i am posting this early to see who i can trick OOOPs i mean help me do my clutch my next weekend off starts from fri 15th to tues 19th so any volunteers put your names down if your available.please remember that i have never done one of these and any experience doing one appreciated

.i dont have a drive and will be working on a bank see i dont like the easy life but don't let that put you off .

sorry its a bit far for me although I would very interested to see it going on.
I spent two days last week working on my frontera taking bent bits off

but I was doing it with a freind and I'd forgotton how much nicer it is workng on a car with someone else.

well im sure pick up can be arranged, as i don't have a clue about changing the clutch yet and it would be nice to have someone who has an idea

If you are doing it on the side of a road/bank, you might find it easier to pull the rad, disconnect the down pipe,undo the heater hoses and engine mounts and slide the engine forwards, sooner than restling with the gearbox/tf box above your heads...
If you havent got an engine hoist handy, a decent ratchet strap and a strong lump of timber or box section cut to length to sit on the inside edges of the wings will support the engine...
I would think you should be able to get the engine at least 8 inches forwards which it should be enough gap to change the clutch...just think its a bit safer and pleasant as not so much t do underneath and the box will stay in situ, and the props etc...Most of the leckies and pipes and cables should have enough movement without removal...
Just a thought anyway...tell me to shut up if you like! :lol:

to be honest gregster iv never done one so all advice welcome

well it's nearlly that time for the clutch change so with the weather being what it is i dont want anyone driving in silly conditions so do not feel as you have to come but i hope to be starting it and will see what happens but for anyone turning up bacon butties and baked tatties and chilli/cheese, other fillings made to order so let me know and lots of tea/coffee.

Anyone passing my way can give me a lift!? :lol:

Once again sorry mate. Oh by the way you dont need to take out the whole of the center consol just the gaiter bit. Ive done 2 clutches and its not that difficult. You'll have 2 of the best reprobates to keep you right BILL & BEN or (Butch & Sundance, Del boy & Rodney) aka Mark and Dan.

Not a problem Bobster with luck i will have half of the dynamic duo and with luck i should have the tonka back on the road after all the snows gone

well i have been running all over trying to get a rear crank seal for tommorrow when i hopefully get the clutch done the only place out of most the motor factors i tried was vx themselfs and for £31:41 for just a seal i think it can leak milners dont stock the C20Ne clutch and said they wern't expecting any in unless they specially order them. not a bit of prep done for rain and trying to find a crank seal and now it's getting dark :cry:

now thats out the way the only good thing is that most of the snow in the street has gone due to the rain :cry:

I'm leavin between 8 and half past mate so should be with ya within the hour. :wink:
