rock sliders where to get them from

Seeing as I have just had a fairly big off and the sliders ( the near side one ) was sheared off when it hit a tree stump :shock:

is missing :shock:

it was dark :shock:

and I ploughed a field as well

where can I buy a new set from that won't break the bank still got more repair's to do

and for those that say you don't need them all I will say if I did'nt have them on well me Fronty would be no longer :oh yer:

so if some one could give us a lead, then it would be very welcome as I want to get some back on A.S.A.P.

cant you just make a set

would be cheaper to make your own

Must admit making my own had crossed my mind but for two little things :oops:

1 I have never welded befor :oops:

2 I have no work shop to make them in

and some how I don't think the wife would allow me to use the house as a tempary workshop more like she would attempt to place them where the sun does'nt shine :butt:

so that's why I have posted the question ( to save a painfull :butt:

i can only find them on the oz web sites

by "sliders" do you mean the original side steps or did it have proper rock or tree sliders?

If they were the originals then they come up on ebay quite often or you could bite the bullet and get them from the stealers as they are still available i think but quite pricey

Does any ony have a photo as I fancy making some for mine. At least I have a wee workshop where the farm bakery was with a huge old bread oven so I can burn all the bits of wood that don't fit the two other fires. Lovely and warm and great for forging stuff. :dance:

My old sliders.

They look very simlar to the one's the drift has just posted photos of but they were not angled up but are flat for the step but also the box section is more oblong being something like 2"x1"

I gave them to Weave a while ago, I took them off as they where to heavy.
I wouldnt mind attaching angle iron along the sills to spread the load of any bumps off road, not as robust but much lighter .

And Nitromotors, I think these are the VX original tree sliders.

Now the last photo is very intersting :shock:

Use your imagination and picture a length of angle iron directly under the body trim (2" bulge strip below the door's) going full length of the sliders then box section going between the supporting brackets directly under the sill's that is all flushed and full length then the top coverd with VX trim plate and the plastic VX trim fitted to the ends.

Rember my nearside one got sheared off thanks to a tree stump :shock:

mind the scary thing was I drove passed the spot yesterday only to realise that when I went off there was a little drop as well, like a 30 foot banking, :shock:

thing is I don't remember the drop just the bang's and being thrown about a bit :shock:

Yer I just want the angle tack welded on to protect the sills from rocks.

Thats what I'm thinking if we were to use say 4mm or thicker ? :shock:

(don't know how well it would bend any thicker)

but then we would need to find away of bending it to shape,

but "now you will know more than me on this"

what are the sill's made of ally or steel, my thought being, yes the back would need to be treated, but pot rivit it to the outer part of the sill, then use a plank of wood and jack to try and bend the rest under !!!!!!!

any advancer's on my thought or am I more barking than usual :lol:
