Anyone still fancy a winchbumper??Hola folks...
As per the last post in this thread, I phoned 4x4-R-Us on friday enquiring about prices... It's a made to order, and obviously gets cheaper the more you buy, as materials can be bulk-ordered, etc... So, anybody else interested?? See here, or any recent thread involving the BBB to see pictures of the original. All those interested, stick a name down, I'll post the price on Monday when I speak to Mick at 4x4-R-Us. Jim Jim...

Re: Anyone still fancy a winchbumper??Bit difficult to know if i'm interested without a price to be honest ... I know that's no help, but I know what it would cost me to get a local firm to knock me one up, so if it's over that, then no

Re: Anyone still fancy a winchbumper??Time for an update to this then...
Spoke to the guys at 4x4-R-us a couple of times this week on this subject. The good news is that all the jigs & templates, etc, still exist and have been found so there's no reason why more cannot be made. From discussions, it would seem the original idea was that the entire thing was made out of 5mm sheet steel, but this was refined down a bit for weight issues (lets face it, the ends are not required to be as strong as the centre, obviously). As I said earlier, these are still done on a "to order" basis like the rest of their lines, with panels cut manually at the moment. If order numbers are sufficiently high, 4x4-R-Us will consider putting the designs on the cad-cam system, which ought to help a little on the price. Otherwise, it's going to be between £280 - £300 per bumper. So, hands up then people... Who wants one?? Understandably with Christmas coming, now is probably not the best time but if we could get a list of interested parties together and aim for end of January, early February??? Please feel free to add any thoughts, etc... Jim The List... 1: Wilberforce 2: ? Jim...

Re: Anyone still fancy a winchbumper??Hi jim....
I wonder if it is idea to see if they can mod the design slightly at the manufacturing stage to take into account a common 1.5" or 2" body lift... Might be a simple case of just drilling differently, something which would be far easier before the bumper is assembled... just a thought Check out the index thread below where pics/reviews from all our past meets can be found!!!!
click here for the SE Events Index/links Thread...see all the reviews and whats coming up soon! Looks like I'm in trouble with the Mrs's again... She asked me what I'd most like to do to her body... Apparently "Identify it" is not the correct answer! MAKE IT or BREAK IT! TEAMXTREME4X4 ![]()
Re: Anyone still fancy a winchbumper??Ummm, not sure about that Greg...
If you redrill to allow for the body lift, I suspect that'll alter the strength of the thing, as regards the winch and the angle of pull on the chassis rails. Also, given the shape, I think there's bit of the car behind the bumper which would preclude that being done, but I could check when I got outside. One option could be to alter the height of the front of the bumper - where the numberplate is mounted. Then use the same top sections, etc, so that the winch tray and mounts stay unchanged, but the bumper would go all the way to a lifted body. Jim...
