Update on my Fronty

Just an update on my Fronty.
I've not posted for a while or even been online much lately due to numerous problems.

My car is still in the garage ( been in since 15th of June ) & hopefully should be done very soon.

Fuel Pump has been reconditioned with BBA Reman for £610, after spending weeks looking over the net & phoning breakers etc, with no luck.
Had the Manifold Cleaned out as it was completely blocked.
Immobiliser & Alarm has been checked through.
All pipes, hoses etc checked, plus the Alternator.
After i looked at the Speedo & the garage looked at the speedo, the unit was sent to BBA Reman who said it cannot be repaired & don't have a replacement.
The speedo has now been sent to DigidashNorthwest to look at, but have requested that they send a replacement with the mileage etc transfered to the replacement unit for £200
Hopefully when it comes back & fitted there won't be anymore faults with it, but we will see.

Will post more once i get it back.....Bit of luck middle to end of this week.

i was wondering how your fronty was getting on, i hoped no news was good news but by the sound of it you have had a baptism of fire of a welcome to fronty ownership

Couldn't get hold of garage so phoned Digidash who has the unit.
It was posted next day delivery last Friday, but they said they got it Monday.They said they were looking at it this morning, but everyone i have spoken too, no matter where i phone comes up with that answer. Have trouble believing people lately :evil:

Lets see if they do phone me back today as they said they would.

Well they did phone me back, but wasn't good news.

They think unit has been changed before, but it isn't the right one.
They got the speedo working, can't be sure about fuel gauge as a lot of damage to circuit board on the fuel gauge section, but for some reason unable to get the rev counter working. Strange thing is that the rev counter was working fine before.
Another £59 spent.

Going to see if it works once re-fitted, but will still have to find a unit. They are going to keep my details on file incase they get one in.

ANYONE - ANYONEwho knows of a unit that will fit PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE let me know.

I don't really want to go to VX and pay £500 +

do you have a part number for it :drink:

I'll have a look when i get it back or see if the garage has one.

sorry to read about the problems with the Fronty, having a dash problem is no joke they seem to be very delicate on these 2.2s.

Well got Fronty back for the weekend and had trouble with the gearbox all over the weekend.
Only way i can discribe it, is like the clutch slipping on a manual box, and it was switching into limp mode every morning.
Once it had warmed up it went fine.

It went back to the garage on monday who looked at it and it has now been sent to be reconditioned at a place in Exeter.

Can't believe the trouble i'm having, but the way i'm looking at it now is i've already spent about £1200 on it, so to give in on it now i would be just throwing that money away.

What's more annoying is the Trader i bought it from in Wales won't answer any of my calls or reply to any message left.
I'm going to get back in touch with OFT, speak to Auto Trader and may contact my Solicitor.

Once everything is done i'll probably have the newest Fronty about :roll:

Well the gearbox had gone on it, so that's in the process of been done now.
Best price i could get for it to be re-conditioned and to refit it was £1650.
Should get it back end of next week.

In total i would have paid over £5035 for this car, so i'm hoping that i can get some money back from this bloke.
OFT were updated and i spoke to the Auto Trader.
Auto Trader can't do anything, ie ban him from selling on there, unless he keeps doing this and people go through Trading Standards and notify them.

I managed to get hold of the trader i bought it from after i withheld my number, as he never answered if i let it show.
He said he will pay something towards the cost, but i told him that he was to pay all costs.
Just have to see what happens.

OUCH thats not good mate, it seems unbelievable that your getting all those expensive repairs at once, surely the traders got to be liable for the cost of them all ?

OFT say he's liable for the whole cost.

The Gearbox Centre can't believe i managed to drive it home from Wales, the state the box was in.

Still, at the end i'll have almost a new vehicle to play with.

Well got it back last Friday and so far it's running great.

It's going really well and am well happy with it now :dance:

Just waiting for the garage bill with the invoices so i can scan them and send them to the trader and see if i can get the money back for the repairs.

Rev counter still not working, which the garage and gearbox centre believe is to do with the fuel pump. I'm not so sure as it was working before, and can't see that been the problem as the pump has been reconditioned.
I still think it has something to do with the speedo unit.
Digidash told me that the circuit board on the dash was pretty bodged up, on the part that is to do with the rev counter.

I'm going to play with it for now and order a new one later on i think.

For now i'm glad to have it back :party:
