Confirmation needed ...

This might sounds daft, but can someone confirm (as in by experience) if a disconnected lambda sensor makes the EML light come on please ...

It will probably give you a lumpy tickover when disconnected but will not harm anything in the short time :wink:

In that case, No if disconnected it does not put on EML on X20 engine

Jay,I think it only shows EML for post CAT Lamda,on more modern Vx it has a seperate Emissions light for non critical faults

Hmm, dagnammit. Thought i might have been getting a step closer to finding the fault with mine. Back to the drawing board I go ...

Thanks for checking guys - I really appreciate it. Every other sensor throws the light on when disconnected, and as I get the "oxygen sensor low voltage" error, so thought I might have been in the ballpark at least!

The light deffo will come on with it disconnected, Ive done it on my old sport.

Are we saying that on the C20NE engine, the EML light should come on if the lambda sensor is disconnected, and can we verify that at all please?

Perhaps the cable or loom from it could be impinged.

This is why I wanted to check to see if the EML light should come on with the sensor disconnected - as if it's not registering the disconnect, then there could well be a short along the line, which would also explain why my engine is running exceptionally lean.

The sensor is brand new - and with the fact that the ECU is not picking up the disconnect, then I am leaning more towards the wiring, and it was doing the same with the original sensor as well
