35 mpg 2.0 Sport

Took a trip out to Wakefield on Sunday and managed 35 miles per gallon despite my right foot(85-100 most of the way).

Has anybody done more than 35 :?:

My 2.3 td does 35mpg solo around town and more on a long run, but I don't go anywhere near as fast as you. there are reports of Fronteras doing more mpg on this site somewhwere. I would be pleased to have a perol one doing 35 mpg.It is a petrol one isn't it?

Still on the first tank on mine, but was getting impressed at the fact that I've managed 400km's (~250miles) on half a tank. But that's nowhere near 35mpg :shock:

Are you sure? usually lucky to 30 mpg especially at thos sort of speeds

27 was the average I got from my 2.0l, only just got 35 from my old sri cav. 80 plus in a sport would= low 20's

I averaged 27 mpg in my old sport

I get around 23 MPH :shock:

Mind you, thats with all the extra stuff fitted to the truck. :roll:

Only mods on my old one was a cone filter and AT's was the SE engine, fully loaded to the gills once though going from Liverpool to Helston Cornwall it was a ten hour trip on one tank

Yes it is a Petrol 2.0i Sport jmc and here's how I worked it out Krusher:-
160.7 Miles
33.34 Litres = 7.33376646 Imperial UK Gallons
160.7 divided by 33.34 = 4.820035992801
7.33376646 Multiplied by 4.820035992801 =35.34901829999 Miles Per Gallon!

I,m fairly sure my Maths is correct. But it's a very long time since I was at school :lol:

I guess it was all down to getting a good run up at the hills and letting inertia take over on the downhill bits

but 160.7 divided by 7.33, so miles into gallons equals 21.9 ???? I think there's an extra step in your sum some where??

I doubt my maths ability, maybe someone could check the maths for me.I put 45 litres in and press the trip back to zero. It then goes for 350 miles back down to the top of the red and I put another 45 litres in.I think it is 4.54 litres to the gallon.These trips are usually to work and back from Whitstable to Littlebourne,solo, and in and around Canterbury, although today I had a lovely run along the A28 through Sissinghurst and Goudhurst to Hersmonsden and back to Littlebourne,right past Ashford vxhall spares where he has a few Fronteras.I didn't have time to go in today.

i made it approx 35mpg jmc but my maths aint brilliant :wink:

and i made yours approx 22mpg trotter :wink:

But hey, at the end of the day who cares, as long as it's running, I count my lucky stars :lol:

You are a lucky man...
my 2.0i sport used to do 30 tops on a gentle long run and much less if booted or round town...
got even worse with 33's and external cage.

Its only saving grace was that the time I was using it a lot coincided with BP changing their pump colours so the lads at work kept filling the lorries up with unleaded....
I managed to win approx 200 gallons of contam free which was at worst 70% petrol, so I used to run it on 50% from the pump and the rest contam.
Smoked a bit, but ran ok and made the fuel consumption 60mpg on a run and 40 round the town based upon the fuel I had to buy!! :dance:

Probably would have killed the cat if hadn't been cut out and fragged when I made its twin side exit exhaust system!
