Rear Light Guards Yes or No.

I have a set of rear light guards to fit on my car but have had conflicting comments on them

Some say they are good and do protect the lights but others say thay are just fashion accesories that can damage the lightys espeshaling when laining :shock:

I had some on my Shogun but they bolted on to the bumber and you could knock down a wall with them

If I decide not to fit them is there a market for them on FOG?

Depends on the light protector fittings and the construction of the light guards themselves. Most seem to have tabs that wrap around the light cluster and the original screws go through them.

Personally I have found mine to be more useful then not, they do stop branches etc. from springing back against the lenses.
However, they definitely wouldn't protect the lights if the whole car slid into a tree or wall etc but I very much doubt that any light guard would offer much protection against that.

I've had rear light guards on my LWB for five or so years - lots of laning, playing and motorsport marshalling and not damage to report.

I would say yes, I had some on my old SWB, and have been trying to get some for my LWB, but no luck yet!!! Great for laning. :dance:

just acquired a full set of light guards front and rear, and lower ones for the swb, they will be going on soon heheheheheh

I think there just cosmetic dont fit bother.............. How much do you want for them :lol:

If they have the tabs that fit behind the light unit a stout branch wedged in there will rip the whole lot of, depends what you do with you truck really.

It looks like they just screw on posably using the light fitting screws and dont apear to have tabs.

I only do laining and avoid serious off roading.

Im pretty sure you will need longer screws.

I think the construction of the light guards has a part to play as well. I have flat guards which dont bend inwards but will bend up and down, they are only attached with metal tabs and have taken some stick from off roading abuse.

I suspect that tubular guards will be more likely to bend in towards the lens then mine.

Again though I stress that it depends on how hard you hit them and what with.
