Re: erm glueThats the cheats way out ..... ..
to do it properly you need to take the half shaft to pieces
Re: erm glueHate them myself, had used them a couple of times but eventually had to the job properly, causing more time and money.
Wont use them again. Regards, Keith.

Re: erm gluei wouldnt use the glue on cv boots not the best option(imo).you can get a stetchy boot from a motor factors (gt or gl)with these you dont need to take the cv joint off the shaft ,but you still need to remove the shaft from the hub.

Re: erm glueThe stretchy boots are ok to use but you still need to separate the bottom ball joint to fit.
I fit a sticky boot on each side without problem, used for P+P fording, laning and the usual V6 tarmac performance. One side developed a pin hole after about 10k, not an issue but now changed for stretchy, left the other side. 10k from a sticky boot exceeded my expectations by about 9.75k Will I use sticky boots again..., yes I have one on the shelf waiting.... I don't like fighting to remove the bottom BJ so for a pain free repair the sticky wins, but thay will not last long. also if you get the slightest oil contamination on the boot when gluing thay will split very quick in deed, if that happens then you have just waisted your time as the extra time to re do negates the quick aspect and you may as well fit a stretchy boot http://www.crag-uk.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: erm glueThey are great I think, I would rather fit two split boots than one normal boot, just to add mine has been through two MOT's.
The way I see it if a tree branch is going to rip your boot, well .. its going to rip your boot so the split ones save all the hassle. Anyway the front drive shafts only spin in 4wd so its not like its getting hammered on everyday roads Ste

Re: erm gluethe split boots are cheating
personally i prefer the proper ones where you have to dismantle the half-shafts
Re: erm glueI have to say as Drift the glue exceeded my expectations. I have a split normal I will replace soon with a glue, and now Ive done a few miles 4x4 with the glue on I will be buying 2 so I have a spare in the boot.
Having done one i can see how rushing or carelessness could lead to issues, you willneed to be patient, but it will pay off. The guy whosold it me hates them Fronty no.4, pimp mobile Treg 3.2 LWB lifted 2.5"

Re: erm glueWell did one dinner time, in the rain
Luckily it went well, not as well as before but likely more due to weather and the fact it was an inner and needed wrestling around the gazzillion bits in the way that stop you getting mits around it. Still managed to fetch and install in a lunch hour so its positive feedbackfromme again. Fronty no.4, pimp mobile Treg 3.2 LWB lifted 2.5"

Re: erm glueI need to replace one of the inner gaiters on the BBB.
I will be using the proper boots (stretchy), rather than split. I would imagine the split boots are ok for "field repairs", but is it possible to service the pot joint and get all the crud out with the shaft in situ ? Lawrence
