My new project, please help out if you can..

Hi guys,

I know this isn't exactly "Frontera" related but it will hopefully be to the benefit of all of us!!

Basically I've got a new domain, I'm setting up a 4x4 search facility which will list 4x4 parts and accessories suppliers as well as clubs all over the world... my aim, as it says on the website it to set up the foremost/premier world resource for 4x4 parts/accessories suppliers and clubs... (I know, it's a big, big plan.. but there are no 4x4 specific search engines out there so I figured hell, why not!~)

What I want people to do is to go to the website and submit any 4x4 suppliers that they know on the submit page so that I can start building the database...
If people want to they are free to join the forum on there as well but it will be purely to discuss 4x4 suppliers/clubs, it's not set up in any way, shape or form as anything specifically Frontera related, it is however specifically 4x4 related.

Also, as a part of this, I would love to collect some photographs from our users here who would allow me full use of the pictures to put on the website as a part of showing 4x4's in use. So if you have any great "action" shots that show your vehicle being used as it is intended and you give me full permission to use them in any way then please send them on to me on the webmaster email address listed on the site. And don't worry, I will remove any number plates etc for you prior to them being put on any site.

Please spread the word on any other forums that you like, the idea is that it's for the benefit of all of us with 4x4's and the more suppliers/clubs I can list there the easier it is for all of us to get our bits or join our clubs!!

Please have a look at the site and the forum (join if you like though no much happening there at the moment) and feel free to comment on this thread about the idea, the site, etc etc...,

If you have a 4x4 resource which you think would be suitable to go on to the site please let me know by submitting it on the site..

Let me know what you think anyway, as always I value peoples opinions

hiya mate itried to register but it won,t let me ,

Shouldn't be a problem on there mate, there's nothing special on the registration process except that it will send you an email to click a link and verify your email address.. There is also a picture with letters and numbers on it for security to stop automated sign ups, etc, but otherwise...

Everything else on there is exactly like on this forum

(apart from it's running phpBB2 until I can upgrade it)

Give it another try because it hasn't even partly registered you. (ie nothing is showing at all about it)

Ideally folks what I'd like is that each one of you who visits the website submit details of a 4x4 parts/accessories supplier or club near to you... that way I can start building the database for all of us..

This thing won't build itself, it needs your input!

Unlike Google and Yahoo etc it won't go out and search for stuff, it's only as good as the information people submit! BUT as a consequence of that it WILL be more accurate as it will only have verified sites submitted.

Eventually I would like it to be a business venture, but I think it will take quite a while. In the meantime I will have to do a lot of work to build up the database of suppliers..

The hope is that one day those suppliers will want to pay for advertising in a more formal way than a line of text describing them and a link..

But I've got to get a big list of suppliers and get to the top of the search engines first, heheh, long time coming if it ever does. And if it doesn't at least there will be a 4x4 related search engine out there

4x4bobby, I don't suppose you have that in slightly larger format do you?

Cheers to all who've offered pics, signed up on the forum, looked at the site.. but thus far all the submissions have been from the people at the Hampshire & Berkshire 4x4 Response Group, hehehe.. the post was on this forum about 10 hours before it went on that one..

9 submissions today though, not bad at all. At the end of the week I'll be busy putting the UK list together with the submissions for the UK by the looks of things.

On the website there is actually a submission form for sending in links for 4x4 suppliers..

I've thus far had a number of submissions come in which have been quite good, adding that to the about 400 saved bookmarks in FireFox I think I will have a VERY VERY BUSY weekend trying to add things.. (PROBLEM IS that I want to do it alphabetically, hahah it's going to take me longer to work out who goes where than anything else!)

Keep on spreading the word folks..

4x4world is an org that will live, take on it's own life and provide a great resource to the world...
