Got it!

Managed to pick up thw new-to-me fronty, got to say though that the engine seems wimpy after driving a load rumbling Jeep 2.5TD this one sounds so quiet. It is odd to drive too as the Jeep felt like a lumbering tank but this feels more like a compact! Pity as I wanted the rough & ready feel but i suppose I'll get used to it!

Couple of faults I missed on the test drive:

When I put on teh rear-demister there was a rustling sound and it didnt work, finally figured out that it was sparking so I need to trace the short this weekend - sound like it's coming from the rear door so need to remove the cladding

The clutch pedal is catchign on something as you jsut release/depress it and making a clicking sound - reckon it's hitting teh facia somewhere so a bend or 2 or a knife trim should suffice.

There was no jack

Worse thing was tha tthe Jeep jack would have fitted but I left it in out of decency in the part-ex :mad:

But the most stupid problem is that there are locking nuts on teh wheels and I didnt notice and cant find the key so will have to look again in daylight hours.

So it's a trip to the local vaux' scrappers at the weekend for a jack or may just rely on the spray gunk, then off to the garage for a service next week or just after when I have discovered all the niggles!

(Bloody smokers too, the glasswork is manky when lit by the sun, all that muck is from 2ry smoke, what must the lungs be like! I hope the enjoyment is worth it!!)

When you open the rear tailgate look to your left near where the roll bar goes down, un screw the toggles and your jack should be stowed in there with the brace and hopefully the locking wheel nuts :wink:

Good idea Dave, I'm an expert at fixing things with a hammer! -pilot holes for screws in wood- pah! thump it in then tighten the last bit with a driver

Got the same model as you MSI64! Common fault?

Only looked on one side for the jack as the other has cross head screws rather than the thumb screws as std.

Just got to finish my cuppasoup then off to clean the interior glasswork - did I mention about smokers?

ps looked there Drift - just got the very small wheelbrace which I will replace with my extending beaut

Oh forgot.. the clutch pedal hieght can be altered by and adjuster post under the pedal wth a locking nut on it :wink:

Is the Haynes manual any good or there somethign better out there? The haynes for the jeep was a bit wanting but it was an american version so maybe we get them better here?

Get the haynes it will be handy for refferance as its all on this site :wink:

Like all cars they have their niggles. The haynes maual is pretty good, but lacks in illustrations sometimes. But if you are mechanically minded then its not much of a problem.

Thanks yet again too Drift, another job for the weekend (got to grease the locks too so I dont get frozen out this winter - too used to remote unlocking to want the hassle of defrosting locks again

Just a sqirt of spray grease should do nicely :wink:

try n look out for the TIS discs on the net i have a set but no burner to run ya a copy off :roll:
