Please help

2.2dti, lwb, 2002. Was heaving on occasion when driving. Mechanic checked egr and then removed manifold to clean swirl flaps. One missing, other broke, so removed it. Replaced manifold, replaced t bars on fuel leak off pipe, now car won't start. Has manually primed it, diesel not coming thru to injectors. Tried towing to jump start but no joy. Any ideas please?

Hope the mechanic hasn't tried too hard or long to start it, as can kill the fuel pump trying to start for too long.
Sounds like it hasn't been primed properly. It takes a suprisingly long time to prime the dti engine.
