Travelling

Hi guys and girls we are travelling to Scotland in August in the fronty never really been too far in her before just around the local area I was wondering other than the crazy fuel bill is there any tips or any advice on what to expect or what may break down, tools might need etc etc it's a swb 2.2 petrol with 55thou on the clock thanks in advance Craig

My travel kit.
zip ties (never leave home woth out them) gafa tape (same as zip tie) wd40. fluids (engine, steering/auto box, coolant) old bike Inner tube (works great to make patches for ruber hose trick I was thought from guys on here. Basic tools screw drivers, socket set ect. And don't forget the jack and wheel brace.

I drove my 96 2.0 to Poland and back and took the above kit all I needed was the steering fluid after a blocked line. You could take all of halfords with you but most important thing in my book is the service and break down cover

Thanks Lee I am going to give it a good service this week then again the week before we go, it's currently running with no thermostat so always running cold from the expertise of you guys would you recommend leaving it or fitting a new thermostat I bought it without one in cheers

If it were me I would be wondering why it has no thermostat? Get one in there and see if there any over heating issues ect.

Hi yeah I have been asking myself that question hopefully it will be OK will get a new one tomorrow and a gallon of antifreeze, also while I am on here I want to change my tyres cos they are rubbish but I would like the khumo kl77 I am currently running 235 70/16 but the kl77's only come in 235 85/16 do you think they would be OK or would I need to modify the arches cheers

I'm the wrong person ask regarding tyre size I just bought the tyres I wanted 33x12.5x15 and then cut the arches to suit, there was a set of partwarn kl71s for sale in the for sale section on here.

I'm sure someone one more familiar and knowledgeable in the world of B series will come along and along advise on tyre size, also try the search function as I'm sure it will have been asked before

I'm glad that others use inner tube,it was an absolute standby to have around at home, my father used it for all sorts of repairs. I have some now and fixed my sons hockey bag with it.
Could someone show me how to fix a hose with inner tube please?

The way I understand it its used a temp bodge to get you out of trouble inner tube like a bandage and cable ties to secure, or super glue.

I've always used thin strips of I in my fire pack (old bakie tin with lighter matches, cotton wool ect) works well for getting kinderling going burns no matter how wet you get it.
