Looking for a newer towing vehicle

Hi,

I got two troopers at the moment, a swb that is basically a farm truck due to chassis rot, my lwb which i use at the moment but wanting to get something a little newer now. The lwb will be going but wanting opinions on the 2.2dti frontera for towing and also the 2.8td isuzu tf pickup for towing as well.

Compared to my v6, my dti seems very low on power, however the dti still managed to tow a car trailer with a 3.1 frontera on it like it wasnt there, yet a 2.5 range rover struggled.
On another occassion i had to tug a boat full of water that had lost one of the wheels of the trailer with the dti. I tugged it all the way down a dirt track, when a mitsubishi L200 couldnt even budge it.
So certainly very capable of towing in comparrison to other 4x4s.

Issue with the Tf is lack of weight on the rear wheels and some are only 2wd.

But when you put trailer on to tow then it should be alright? What sort of mpg does one get from the 3.2 v6? Just seen a 54 plate b series frontera for sale with all the kit and 3.2v6 on way to work.....

Towed caravans, horses and trailers of hay with my lwb dti with no issues.

Yep stick with the Dti, have both, and to be fair whilst the diesel looks low on size and power its a little gem. The V6 has power but its crap on fuel, only positive is its really quiet which i like.
Seriously though the Dti is really good at towing, its two faults are the fuel pump and the oil cooler. The latter is an easy cheap fix, the first, well just read through the forums.

V6. Used to get 24mpg regularly with 30mpg on motorway runs sticking to 60mph. Now get alot less due to added weight and bigger wheels.
Dti. Get about 34mpg regularly with 40mpg if i drive carefully.

Lpg v6 all the way the power with the economy i get 250 round town up to 330 on motorway for 72 litres at £40 £50 depending where i full up

Towing a Caravan took it down to 270 a full tank heading down devon
