They tried before XH558 was retired Lawrence, but a few things were against it at the time IIRC (and still are), Apart from the obvious in the name (BBMF) and the Vulcan was a bit too late for the Battle of Britain cost was also another issue.
Although the chippy didnt get to play in the Battle of Britain I believe the BBMF use it as their training aircraft as it's a tail dragger like the rest of the fleet unlike most current RAF types which the crews would be trained on which have tricycle type undercarriages.

Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered
