Recommendation on electric windy guns.As the title really. Getting tired of undoing 48 wheel nuts by hand when swapping tyres over from one truck to the other. Also sometimes you just have to get medieval on some of those bolts.

Re: Recommendation on electric windy guns.Does me although if the wheel nut was done up with 'Mr Breaker Bar' it does sweat a bit. But then so does the bod in the local tyre place when he gets to change the tyres on the Truck
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... Re: Recommendation on electric windy guns.I have a Sealey 24v (iirc) one which has been ok for a budget one, this was the one I used down the woods all the time in the "early day"...
Also have a Hilti one, 22v, a bit more expensive but it does work really well and has a nice small head, so fits in a million places the Sealey couldnt.... Thats the red one, you have probably seen it down the woods Neil. That does up stuff that my mates snap on gun wont undo, and undoes stuff his wont also. More often than not, you dont need a breaker bar with stuff with this one, but its kinder to it and I want it to last so I tend to crack stuff first still. You do get what you pay for, like with most things, but when you price a compressor into the equation also then getting a goodun isnt unachievable. Re: Recommendation on electric windy guns. What would be a reasonable budget? As I'd love one but really have no idea about them at all lol. What's a good spec? What's a naff spec? Worth buying used ones from eBay or cash converters etc?

Re: Recommendation on electric windy guns.I had a Clarke 24v, 1/2" nut runner bought for me that delivers 450 Nm. It came with 2 batteries and a few sockets and charger obviously. It is well robust and well heavy, not a great problem if you're working under the car but not so good under the bonnet. It won't shift a wheel nut or ball joint nuts as I found out but still saves loads of time once you've cracked them with a bar and zipping up them is a sinch. I'm glad I've got it but I did'nt pay the £145 for it.
Re: Recommendation on electric windy guns.I have the same clarke one, on a full battery i've had no problems on wheel nuts that have been torqued up properly. Not so much joy on the ones that have been done up with a breaker bar by some muppet doing it "as tight as it'll go".......
Can't complain at £100 mine was, but its still nothing on my mates snap on gun so most of the time i just use that as its in the workshop. Its like everything snap on, you think "bugger me i'm not paying that", then you get something else and eventually use or borrow the snap on equivalent and think, "i wish i'd got that now" haha. Re: Recommendation on electric windy guns.I have a Bosch imitation 24v bought it brand new off eBay a few years ago for £90 the battery life is short but it's quick charge instant power I can undo 24 wheel nuts with one battery even when some of the bolts have been breaker bar tightened.
It's not about how much you spend on one it's the spec it provides. The snap on 18v is good but over priced the 24v version is just a daft idea, my mates just got a 24v snap on and yes it's good but not worth the price difference compared to mine. Colley can vouch for mine it's saved us loads of time effort and grief. If it ain't broke, fix it before it does!! You know it will!!
Re: Recommendation on electric windy guns.Recently bought a snap on latest gen impact gun, was £600 but it's pretty much paid for itself all ready in jobs done and time saved, it'll even undo light truck wheel nuts......
Re: Recommendation on electric windy guns.Thing is £600 is a lot of money for a tool that won't pay for itself in home mechanics.
Liking the idea of Sealy. I have several Sealy things in the garage and have done the job nicely. Will have a looksee and mull things over. ![]() ![]() My members ride For Banshee the Trooper : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=34626 My members ride for Leeloo the Lotus Edition viewtopic.php?f=46&t=60154 Deceased My members ride for Brenda the Bighorn : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=54771
Re: Recommendation on electric windy guns.Oh you used to be able to get a 240 volt gun, think it was Milwaukee or something like that.
If it ain't broke, fix it before it does!! You know it will!!
