Was looking at this Frontera on the 'bay

So, as I posted, I'm ooking for a 2.5 LWB. Came across this one:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1998-Vauxhall ... 258948e3e1

It's been a while since I owned mine so I can't quite remember how the range box works. Apparently it's stuck in 4H and wont come out - any idea what would cause that?

Something come loose under the trim around the gear stick or in the transfer box. You could be lucky or not as the case go's.

Good point (but don't tell the garage) the transfer box across the A Series range is IIRC the same ratio and fitting for all models. Ratios to match engines is taken care off in the gearbox and diffs.

Bad point (tell garage and use as negotiating point) the vehicle is NOT designed to be driven on tarmac in 4wd and it will wind up the drive train and may damage stuff. Therefore 1k is a bit on the high side. Personally, I would offer no more than 500 quid and even then I'd probably think I'd been done over on the way home.

If it hasent already been removed then take off the front prop before driving it away.
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ;) )

Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'O-no' the truck.

Owning a 2.8 is a hobby in it's self...

Thanks for that :)

I decided after speaking to him on the phone that I wasn't interested. Just something about it wasn't right and he still said, after trying to sort it while on the phone to me(!) that he wouldn't take any less than £900.

I'm currently bidding on another 2.5 that's just norf of landan... seems to be in good sorts bar a cracked windscreen. We'll see what comes of that! Problem is, being in Edinburgh... it's all very much a lot of hope and chance! :)
