Been looking at changing my daily runner - and the motor that ticks all the boxes for functionality is a Fiat Doblo
Pluses
7 seats for occasional family group use
Can be turned into a mobile shed easily
Comes with diesel option and is advertised as giving good MPG.
Minuses
Badged as Fiat - always said I would never have one. But that said, daughter as got a 03 1.2 Punto which she bought from new. It's now done 70k +, and touching wood, is still going strong without to many maintanence issues. I've done a few jobs on it and my impression is the quality of the metal is crap. Surface rust on bolts etc., tin sump pan that goes porous and so forth. Cracked coil spring. That said, as always with any motor, if serviced and maintained as it should be, then that goes a long way with the life of the motor.
So my request is that if anybody as got/had experience with the Doblo, any chance of a bit of feedback on what they are like for just general running about. Are they a deffo no no and don't touch with a barge pole, or for just no thrills general running about are they OK.
Thinking the 1.9 multijet diesel would be the best choice, but notice they do come with 1.3 diesel option (apparently same 1.3 CDTi engine as the Corsa).
Cheers for any feedback.
