Well the fronty george passed its mot today :dance:

but had to have all new brake lines rear brake discs and
a couple of more jobs this time round, starting to think
is it worth throwing money at it year after year :?:

it has never let me down always starts 1st time runs great

Keep it ... better the devil you know and all. From what you said needed doing they are little things really.

I too would say keep it, my first MOT involved brake pipes etc but to be honest when thats done it wont need doing again for quite a while.

At least you know it runs well....

HI I would agree with all of the above.

It can be a real pain when things to "wear out" and they will on any car at some point or another.. and usually when you least need it, but once its done then you can forget about that bit for a while at least ;P)

You can only fix so much at once and probably all over again on another car, which then makes it not so worth while.

Ash, dont speak too soon, i was just thinking about mine last month. I got too the "very reliable...hasnt needed much doing" (just the usual stuff i chose to do belts etc). I did a few sums & realised i was actually on free motoring :dance:

Im now thinking about spending a few Quid on it when i heard a bang :wtf:

WTF was that, turned out i lost a brake pad :eh:

(in Edinburgh). By the time i got the 60 miles back home the disc was heavily scored and the Caliper was FCUKd.That was a sore one a week before Chrimbo (£460 in the garage, complete brake overhaul for the back end ,Discs, calipers & pads) didnt have the time to do myself, as i was busier @ work than santa! ..........Careful what you wish for.

I know , but couldnt find the time, had to go to Dick Turpins Garage. Every where i phoned were too busy till the new year. I even considered putting it off the road for a month & hiring something.

Just think of the depreciation costs i you bought something newer! Mine has just cost me about £500 this month in sensors/parts etc. however looked at cost of replacing the truck with something else and wayyyyy more expensive.

Just a thought :-)

Ach, keep it Ash...
Had to spend a few hundred on the Bus for her MOT, and that was mostly brake stuff, probably a side-effect of having sat for 6 months.
She had new handbrake cables & shoes, rear pads, and unfortunately a rear caliper too, but other than that was just the usual bearing grumbles, and I wouldn't change her for another.

mot prices will go up as they have brought loads of thing back into check
and made new things up the most silly one to me is if your boot is split on a ball jiont its a fail even with know play
