what's that supposed to mean?? good or bad?
and the chassis' been hammerited so have the leafsprings. same question good or bad?
this is a chap i've just spoken to about a 2.3 for sale. '94.

having the intercooler flushed for its mot could indicate that it was smoking alot on the smoke test,maybe excessive oil being burnt and depositing in the intercooler,the chassis being hammerited is a good thing as long as its not covering up loads of dodgy repairs or areas of rot on the chassis.have a good tap round underneath it to check its condition and see how much it smokes when its fully warmed up and revving the engine.

ok thanks crackerpot, all good advice i'm sure and will execute promise, but... i must decide if i'm buying it without seeing it in th flesh as i live in normandy and the cars in england...hmmm.. dilemme ! lol.

as for the hammerite yeh it does what it says on the tin sure, also does a good job of bodging :shh:

he did say failed mot, then had it all flushed and it went straight thru....
burning oil... valves? rings?

The 2.3 tends to be a very smoky engine at the best of times, personally with your budget I would wait for slightly newer Frontera comes up considering the logistics.

hifrench farmer, yeh i know boncoin. and angloinfo, but 1, high price, and 2, not often registered in france if british to begin with.
and i have a very small budget...

oil in the intercooler is probably turbo seals starting to fail,saying that it could be a really good bargain is there any history with it? even if the turbo is knackered its not the end of the world.

I was thinking more the later A series diesels on coil suspension :wink:

from late '95 onwards coils weren"t they drift?
and crackpotterpig, if it's the seal how much does that cost to fix, doable myself? no no real history, chap has modified it himself and done the servicing himself. been jacked up and stuff, had new starter, glowplugs this year. :oh yer:

no advisories on the mot after this "flush" job.

All post 95 are on coils, the leafers are 2.3/2.4/20l before 95 :wink:

Turbo seals would mean a new turbo they are not really a DIY fix

hi guys, what about a 99 2.2dti? engine management light comes on time to time apparently vacum leak...
could this be true? cheap fix or ignore?
or another barge pole job?

It could be a simple fix but, I can never understand seller selling a car with an apparent "easy or cheap" fix, why dont they fix it then?
