HI, I just wanted to see if anyone has any experience on Renault Clio's ( MKII ) S reg. To cut a long story short, car was being driven and the cam belt snapped. It's a 1.2 8v Manual Petrol. So, I stripped it, rebuilt the head with 8 new valves and re-built it back up. It's turning over but not firing. 1. Timing checked and seems to be perfect. 2. Compression tested to 120+ per cylinder 3. Spark on at least Cylinder 1 4. Pressed fuel cut off to make sure it had not triggered. 5. immobiliser seems to be not hindering start 6. I am assuming there is fuel being pumped to the fuel rail, though no reason not to believe otherwise as yet. Battery was disconnected for about 2 weeks and I am stumped.. any ideas on what may be stopping this from starting?

If you give it a squirt of easy start (or brake cleaner or carb cleaner) down the air intake, will it fire up then?...I've had those plugs oil up really quickly and its been the only way to start them.
Check the fuel pump feeds at the tank end (think there's an inspection cover under the back seat), check all the fuses...we just had one that had been butchered behind the fuse box and a by-pass fuse that had been fitted had blown, we wouldn't have known unless we removed the fusebox out of curiosity/desperation.
What have I told you about Thinking Erroll??

hi, , @ Meoo, Ill try the carb cleaner in the air in-take. At least if it tries to fire Ill know for sure all's ok with the repair I have done! though I am pretty sure now @Gazeddy, I did not discinnect the fuel lines so these should still be good. @Dan, that was my first question to the owner - accuracy of the gauge! Yes just under 1/4 tank. Ill take a look befind the fuse box, was that a custom fit fuse or OEM? I might need that fuel yet to set fire to it yet

HI, 12v at the petrol pump. I wired the petrol pump directly to the battery +ve supply and it s is pumping fuel into the fuel rail now. There is a spark, but it seems a bit weak. Checked compression again 120psi+ on all cylinders so probably back to the immobiliser and injectors then..
