Ive had the car for a month now ,fixed the fuel guage broken wire in the sender unit, fixed the clutch pedal bolted it back to the bulkhead ,all in all a good motor .Looking through the service history came across this invoice ,
Inspect for head gasket problems ,Remove cylinder heads x4 strip and report .Send x4 heads away for crack testing. Supply x4 new cylinder heads ,new head gasket set,new valve stem oil seals , new water pump oil&filter new thermostat flush cooling system run & test oil £16.75 Filter £7.50 x4 Heads £740.00 1 set bolts £16.80 1 Headset £143.29 Waterpump £47.50 Thermostat £9.75 Antifreeze £6.00 ! Crack Test £60.00 Labour £250.00 + VAT £227.42 Total £1527.01 All this at 6years old and 45,000 mls in 2003.
Wonder how much this would cost today, wont mention the garage but its in Gloucester

I think it the 2.5 as one of the bills said 4x heads and the VM2.5 have 4x heads

That clears things up ... I haven't had any experience with the 2.5 .. apart from a mate at work who swears blind its a great engine even when the waterpump housing falls to bits, the EML is on all the time, he has had to fit an inline pump so the thing will start from cold due to an air leak somewhere in the lines/pump ....

Yes it is a vm 2.5 ,i posted it in engine specific but them who must be obeyed moved it  I hope these engines arnt prone to head probs .

I don't see why it couldn't be done, I think i see me doing some research/ comparisons with my spare 2.5engine and the B.series i have in bits lol
