CouriersCan people recomend some cheap but reliable couriers please. Need 4x 31" tyres on alloys to ship. I know Greg always has one in mind, but I can't remember who. Any handy links would be good also please

Re: CouriersWe always use Parcel2Go.
They always seem to be the cheapest and no problem with shipping wheels or tyres.
Re: CouriersAnother one to try is shiply. Put in what you you want moving and where to and from and couriers quote you. I tried parcel2go amongst others and found these cheaper as they all started out bidding each other
Re: CouriersAnyone know how much a 31" tyre on a alloy weighs? Companies on the bay will ship 4 for £30 if the weight doesn't exceed 80kg.

Re: CouriersI am having issues with Yodel formerly DHL three days I've waited for them to pick up a parcel, Parceltogo have just changed the courier to Citylink, not PTG fault but do not choose Yodel/DHL they are rubbish, second time I've had problems with them, the benefit of the doubt has been removed now

Re: CouriersSeems to be loads of agents about for the major companies, must be a logistical nightmare, no wonder parcels don't get picked up, go astray etc.
Insurance on alot of them is very low also, I would want more than £50 back if I lost a full set of alloys and tyres. http://www.wheelcourier.com/uk418.html These seem ok, not sure if its +vat, but their insurance is £200. ![]()
Re: CouriersYou could also try Parcelmonkey.co.uk, i sent a 16" rim and 31 tyre for under a tenner, didnt need to wrap it just labelled it...

Re: CouriersChange of tactic here, but if it's four tyres on rims, have you considered getting hold of a Euro-pallet and some wrap, then making use of an economy service on one of the pallet networks?? 99.9% of the waguns the haliers use will have tail lift and pump trucks because of the number of home addresses they do so getting it on and off ought not to be an issue.
I've done that before, I think the company I used belonged to TPN, and it came in at something like £40-50. Weight becomes a bit less of an issue then, as I have a feeling that four tyres on rims is going to be pretty close on 80KG. I'm currently driving a Pallet Track trunk vehicle every night, and frequently have pallets of LGV or agricultural tyres, etc, on so it's not uncommon. Just a thought, Jim. Jim...
