Seen them in Wales on a car a few years ago, look like tough nylon, cant see them lasting on tarmac for long.

Personally I'd pay the little bit extra and buy a set of chains. Have used chains on cars other than the Fronty and haven't been disappointed. Prices for chains now is cheaper than the cost about 20 years ago. Even Fronty sized chains aren't much more than that for a conventional car.

I don't know for how long tyre manufacturers have identified a very delicate tread as being most effective for traction in snow, but the M+S rated tyre on my car has very small ridges across the direction of travel in the base of the tyre grooves.
I have subsequently learned that is what gives the snow traction not the blocks of the tread which are more for the mud and road use.

Suppose those tyre stockings act in similar fashion to folks putting a pair of old tights over their shoes to get a grip in icy conditions.

Having used chains on previous 2wd cars and the irritation of fitting them, invariably in a blizzard, and getting into the car covered with snow, having the Fronty is the biz - just select that extra lever and carry on as normal - the civilised way to travel!

Greg,they dont have them for the 255/75/15 and the 31/10.5/15 either.

Big Dav,I used to do that when I worked in the security industry in the winter,my ex wasnt impressed when I nicked her tights every winter time. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

They are a legal requirement on Jonny Foreigners roads in most of Europe in winter, even some insist on winter tyres.
