Hi
Rally Raids are a huge step up from any type of off-road motor sport usually found in the UK.
Below Raids are Hill Rallies. There used to be a few per year, this year there will be (I believe) 2 - this weekend is the Ray Kempster Memorial in Wales (Ray was a diamond chap who sdaly lost his life last year in a crash on an event). In November the Scottish Borders Hill Rally is running. These are multi-venue events (like traditional rallies) but with off-road sections. Hugely car breaking, expect hub/driveshaft/diff/suspension/kidney damage each outing.
Below hill rallies are Comp Safaris. Trugga posted a fantastic write-up of one recently. There are many of these events going on around the UK, probably at least 50 over the year. Single venue, like the team on Top Gear were doing this week (is that what sparked the interest?). Up to 12 laps per day, depending on the length of track, with service at any point. Hugely car breaking, expect hub/driveshaft/diff/suspension/kidney damage each outing.
These are the only events permitted to be run as timed "races" in the UK.
Does that help? I'm afraid your list of equipment and spares would not last even half a day Comp Safari, never mind a Raid. Why not go out and Marshal on some events and get a feel for things? They are really friendly, and welcome all help.
Cheers
