Just bought a new waterpump. Opened it with excitement. Went to spin it but even though it turns with no adverse grinding and very smoothly, if you try to spin it it won't turn freely enough once you let go. Is this normal?
It seems loose enough that a tensioned belt will turn it. I suppose its tight due to the seals to prevent it leaking.

Front Manual Locking Hubs.
Rear Limited Slip Differential.
Yota Surf steels, with custom paintjob. (cheers Gregster)
33x12.5" R15 General Grabber AT 2's.
+2" suspension lift.
+3" body lift.
Cat 1 Thatcham approved alarm.
Irmscher wheel arch flares.
Full body restoration/respray. (cheers Gregster again!) - Region: North West

If this is a general query, then I have fitted one to a Ford in the past that was the same as you describe. Have never fitted one to a Fronty though, sorry.

This is for the Trooper so the same as the 2.8 Fronty. Its all part of the Fuel pump refurb, new timing kit, new waterpump, and front crank seal project. Pump is leaking, and front crank seal is weeping. Going to spend the money to get it properly refurbed by a Bosch specialist. While its off I might as well give the front end a cleanup and replace everything as it all needs to come off.

Its fine, its the same pump I fitted to mine, the pump is powered by the belt so the pump is tight to prevent any play

Ive just been in the shed and checked with a good but used 4jb1 water pump and that is stiff to turn, well I say stiff it just has a bit of resistance just to confirm
