best way to drive to save fuel

OK, i am used to petrol engines, and can drive them ecomonically, but the 2.5tds, how do you drive that to save fuel?

I try to keep the revs down, but i find i push the accelerator more when under 1500rpms, above 1500 when turbo kicks in, i use less accelerator.

So, what "band of rpms" should i keep the 2.5 in?

I very rarely take mine past 2500rpm. To be honest there's little need to, unless accelerating hard on to a motorway or something.

As jim says 2500 rpm is the best.

As above. Dont rev too hard before xhanging up gear, and get to 5th as soon as you can.
Once there, you hardly need to touch the throttle pedal.

Better still get a push bike

I normally stick to about 2500 in the 2.8, it chugs along nicely at that.

if you keep a td below 2000 revs youll save quite a bit. i also run my tyres up a bit of pressure and remove all junk from the boot

With a diesel you need to give them a thrash now and then just to blow them through, otherwise you can build a lot of carbon in the intakes.

depends but im running 34 (5 psi over book of 29) and im getting figures of around 30mpg out of my 2.2 petrol. junk in the boot is more of a killer for economy. one thing to note is upped tyre pressures effectively reduce grip.
