bad day for the slugsooooo gutted 2day slug decided 2 live up 2 his name and refused to go above 2500 revs, after 3 hours with the RAC,a unhappy 20 month old and a new fuel filter topped with a dose of fuel system cleaner (for luck) the end result is a tow to the garage 2moz to find out which bit of slug has died
Re: bad day for the slugThats bad news mate...was it smoking or any other symptoms, or just wouldnt rev...
Check out the index thread below where pics/reviews from all our past meets can be found!!!!
click here for the SE Events Index/links Thread...see all the reviews and whats coming up soon! Looks like I'm in trouble with the Mrs's again... She asked me what I'd most like to do to her body... Apparently "Identify it" is not the correct answer! MAKE IT or BREAK IT! TEAMXTREME4X4 ![]()
Re: bad day for the slugBoost compensator to the top of the fuel pump from the inlet manifold (vacuum pipe). Look for splits in any of the turbo to inlet manifold pipework ncluding the intercooler (I had this, the hose from the turbo to the metal pipe to the intercooler was split at the back and loosing pressure) That would be my first thoughts. Other things would be for oil in the inlet side of things and play in the turbo (could be failing and losing boost) ... reminds me I should really fit my boost guage so I can monitor this on mine.

Re: bad day for the slugIt hadnt really smoked just the usual lil bit when u 1st start, definately more smoke than normal 2day, just wudnt rev out, crawling along the road with a huge trail of cars behind , with my foot to the floor, lol.Thanx 4 the info i will check out slugs insides 2moz, my suspicion is the fuel pump as there was a serious lack of fuel goin to the injectors
Re: bad day for the slugI would think the vacuum pipe has come off ... the boost compensator one. It plumbs into the top of the fuel pump. From recollection it runs along the front of the engine inlet system, and plugs into a post on the front of the inlet manifold.

Re: bad day for the slugOnce had a Rover that would not rev above 2000rpm It was the rear silencer, the pipe inside had dropped down and partially blocked the gases
from escaping
Re: bad day for the slugSimilar kind of think happened to the rents old 2.4i but the eml light would come on when under load. Never did find the cause £500 spent on parts with vaux and still no joy. Chopped it in with the vaux garage in the end against as 6 month old 2.2i. About 12 months later I saw it parked on a local petrol station forcourt with a flat tyre looking really rough.
Good look with finding the cause and hope its back up and running in no time
Re: bad day for the slugheya, an update on the slug, there was a couple of probs, sender unit wasnt really atttached so that didnt help lol, but the ultimate prob was a hair line fractor in 1 of the fuel injectors, any recomendations for where i can buy 1 of these asap as have a wedding to go to next weekend! the good news is that the fuel pump is all cool, wahey! thanx again guys vx
