B Series Workshop Manuals

Postby ccr999 on Wed May 11, 2011 9:27 am

Hi, I am looking for a good recommendation for a B series workshop manual. The good old "Haynes Book of Lies" does not cover the B series, so that draws a blank. Clymer just don't do anything like one these days. I have looked at the TIS CD based "manuals" on the internet / eBay and the problem I have seen so far is that they are not really manuals in the sense that with Haynes you get decent pictures, logical structure and a good chance of finding and following the process for any fix you are undertaking. the version I got was more of a random collection of technical notes that gave you a clue of the fix it approach, but little more than that. I was actually convinved that what I saw of this TIS "manual" was it was a pirate copy of the Vauxhall dealers info for the car. Needless to say I got a refund! So any recommendations for a real manual gratefully recieved. No dodgy downloads or copyright infringed suggestions please as I value my liberty.

Thanks.

Steve.

As far as i know there isn't a book version for the B's.
Some people are like Slinkies... not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

TIS is the only factory information on the B, unless you count the old paper bulletins that carried stuff you would get on the next disc update. If you actually spend some time using it, it's the only way to go....Haynes used to be superb, with the old line drawn diagrams - the picture stuff is either inaccurate or vague or never relates to your model :-)

The Wiring Diagram Disc is worth it's weight in gold if it's included.*

Yes, I found it strange that Haynes never did an update for the B series, I guess with the complexities of cars these days and the number of variants in each model it can't be that easy or economical except for the most common / popular vehicles.

So it looks like the TIS is my only option unless I can get a secondhand copy of Autodata which is highly unlikely.

Again I am guessing that the best TIS is the the absolute latest version with the wiring diagrams. There seem to be plenty on eBay but looking at the wording for the auctions it is still a lottery as to whether you are getting something worth having or yet another blagged copy of a very old version like the first one I bought, though got a refund on as it was frankly awful!

Kind of - the later versions deleted older models as they went - so it's a case of find one from end of production or thereabouts.

Will check mine, when I can find bloody discs.
