the end of my frontera experience

So after much heartache,headache and it being a pain in the arse ive decided to throw in the towel and get shot of the frontera...its been an experience i shall never forget...ive had some good times in it but its just costing me too much money and again this morning it broke down,thats twice in three months and the cost or repairing it is not worth it,so about an hour ago i got myself a bank loan and will be px'ing it for a small diesel either a clio or maybe a mondeo..boring i know but hopefully more reliable and alot cheaper on the fuel and also not having the worry of a headgasket going at anytime..whilst ive been here i have learnt alot from you guys and have to say you have been one of the best car clubs ive had the pleasure to have been associated with..so on that note i will leave you and say it been emotional...keep up the good work and stay safe with your off roading antics

Just thought id give you a little update...well the fronty went in the end although it was difficult to get rid of,the dealers didnt want it,dodgy backstreet garages didnt want it,but in the end she went in for a px on a focus st which i pick up tomorrow,she must know she,s going as the clocks have stopped working,side light bulb blown,starting to over heat more and the engine managment light is on intermitantly(sp)its funny in a way how much character these 4x4's have....will i miss it,maybe

I don't blame you for getting shot of it. I wish I never bought one, and I have not had that much grief from it (touch wood). I want a 4 x 4 that I am not afraid to use, and is reliable. With the Frontera I am always worrying its going to pack up.
When I had Land Rovers a few years ago the Fronteras had a terrible name. Just before Christmas I started looking for another 4 x 4 and the B series Fronteras were very cheap for the age and mileage. After reading a bit about them I thought VX had sorted the Fronteras out,and they didn't seem too bad. But sadly no, I was wrong. I don't think I would ever get another one, and I certainly couldn't recommend them.

Just to say that most Fronteras are reliable but because of their age they need TLC and ive got to addmit we do give them some abuse. You will find that Landrovers still brakedown but the consolation there is that the parts are cheap. Sorry to see you go and sorry you had so much trouble.

How can you slate a car the you say you have not had much trouble with? :shock:

The technical areas of this forum are full of cars with problems collected from many cars over many years, you g to any make of any cars technical forum it will be full of horror stories even Toyota :lol:

What you never see on many of these forums are the cars that do not have problems :wink:

as there is no reason for them to post in the techi sections :wink:

Adding to Ste's post above, not every owner of a Fronty is registered to the forum and a number of members could well have originally joined up to help solve a problem giving an illusion of a troublesome vehicle type.
I am also registered on another manufacturers forum and to be honest if I was to decide the purchase of a vehicle of that marque I would run a mile.

You are right Drift, I shouldn't slate them like that... I am just a little paranoid now with the Frontera.
And as Big Dav said, it is only a small percentage of Frontera owners that are on sites like this discussing problems.

I hated my Dti for months until I sorted out the stupid little niggles that I was too lazy to attend too. Now it's sweet, I love it.

I hate mine on an almost weekly basis..but then, either it does something or this place (FOG) lightens my heart and i start to love it again...could be worse, could be a fiat owner...(i've got one of those aswel, that hasn't moved since november)
