MOT/SPEEDO

Hi all, i,ve got the B series prob with speedo,but before i have a go at repairing it,i was just curious if it's a MOT fail? as i use the sat nav as a speedo.,

Its illegal not to have a speedo but its not checked on the MOT.
If you get pulled over and tell them its broke your fine and just may get a doc to say you have to have it fixed in 7 days but thats rare.
